Joseph W.Kissell;age 85 of Butler;Pennsylvania;died Thursday;December 20;2007 at 7:20 a.m. in the Sunnyview Home.
Born January 8;1922 in Belle Vernon;Pennsylvania;he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Dudgeon Kissell.
Mr.Kissell attended the Community Alliance Church. He was a school principal for the McKeesport School District and retired in 1986.
Mr.Kissell was a veteran of the UNited States Army in WW II. He was a life member of National Education Association (NEA) and the Pennsylvania State Education Association (PSEA). He received his Bachelors of Science Degree at Nyack College in New York and his Master’s Degree from the University of Pittsburgh.
Mr.Kissell is survived by his wife;Grace E. Miller Kissell;whom he married on November 24;1962;one son;Joseph W.and his wife Morgen of Paris;France;one daughter;Darlene Dickey of St.Marys;Pennsylvania;four grandchildren;Benaiah;Emily;Zachery;and Nathan;one brother;William and his wife;Clarabelle Kissell of Monaca;Pennsylvania;two sisters;Gail Kissell of McKeesport;Pennsylvania and Patricia Kissell of Nampa;Idaho and by a number of nieces and nephews.
Mr.Kissell was preceded in death by one infant sister.
Friends will be received at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home;Inc.124 East North Street;Butler;Pennsylvania on Sunday;December 23;2007 from 12 noon to 4 and 7 to 9.
Services will be held at the Thompson-Miller Funeral Home;Inc. on Monday;December 24;2007 at 11:00 a.m. with Reverand David Volstad;associate pastor of the Allegheny Center Alliance Church in Pittsburgh and Reverand Dennis Krajacic;pastor of Community Alliance Church;officiating. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery in Belle Vernon;Pennsylvania.

Jane W.H. Martin; 92; formerly of Belle Vernon and Perryopolis; died Tuesday; July 8; 2008. A daughter of the late Thomas and Mildred Waite Harris; she was born in North Belle Vernon on October 8; 1915. Jane was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church of Fayette City (Brownstown); the former Eastern Star of Belle Vernon and the Fayette County Grange. A graduate of Belle Vernon High School and the former California Teacher’s College; she taught school at the North Belle Vernon Elementary School and the Franklin Township School in the Uniontown School District; where she taught special education and retired in 1987. She was a lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon and Perryopolis areas. Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law; James A. Jr. and Veronica Martin; and John T. Sr. and Esther Martin; all of Perryopolis; one sister; Betty Davis; of Belle Vernon; seven grandchildren and their families; Christopher Martin; Mark Franks; Romanee Yandura; Cody Martin; Jodi Ross; Heidi Martin and John Martin Jr.; and 10 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband; James A. Martin Sr.; in 1988; one sister; Mildred LeComte; and three brothers; Evan Thomas; Harrington Thomas and Thomas Harris. He was born July 17; 1916; in Washington Township (Arnold City); a son of the late Frank Belczyk and the late Maryann Kudlatta Belczyk. He was a member of St. Joseph Polish National Church in Fairhope and a retired coal miner.
