Walter L. Diethorn; 82; of North Belle Vernon; died Monday; June 3; 2013; at 9:34 p.m. at his home. Born Jan. 11; 1931; in Belle Vernon; he was the son of the late George F. and Teresa M. Funk Diethorn. A resident of North Belle Vernon; Mr. Diethorn was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and was a retired mechanic for Guttman Oil Co.; Page Lambert Co.; Lee Norse Co.; Charleroi; and the former Ray’s Service Center; North Belle Vernon. Walt was a life member of the North Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department where he served as past officer and was the caretaker of the fire apparatus for numerous years. He was also a member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and the Naomi Athletic Club. He is survived by his wife; Darlene Strickler Diethorn; to whom he was married for 58 years; four children; Pamela Allen of Charleroi; Laurie Harris of Uniontown; Walter Diethorn Jr. and wife; Lisa; of Monessen; Matthew Diethorn of Belle Vernon; sister; Mildred Allfree of Charleroi; nine grandchildren; Michael Allen; Mark Allen; Mindy Harris; Joshua Harris; Zachary Harris; Walter Diethorn III; David Diethorn; Daniel Diethorn; Deanna Diethorn; and three great-grandchildren; McKenzie Allen; Madalyn Cherry and Jacob Cherry. He was preceded in death by three brothers; Dennis; Lionel J.; and George Diethorn; and three sisters; Evelyn McManus; Catherine Boltz and Phyllis Sabol.
