The Rev. Katherine Van Fleet; 94; of North Huntingdon; died Friday; Feb. 22; 2013; at Golden Living Center; Murrysville. She was born May 7; 1918; in Belle Vernon; a daughter of the late Jacob and Anna Den Decker Van Fleet. Prior to her retirement; the Rev. Van Fleet was employed as the pastor of Praise Chapel; in Wilkinsburg. She was a veteran of World War II having served in the Army in the Women’s Air Corps. She was also employed by the Kroger Company in both Wilkinsburg and Duquesne with more than 30 1/2 years of service and a member of First Assembly of God Church; in Irwin. She was preceded in death by one sister; Elizabeth Van Fleet Gresch; and one brother; Peter Van Fleet. Surviving is one nephew; Robert Van Fleet; and one niece; Julianne Brighenti. There will be no visitation. Burial will be private in Belle Vernon Cemetery.

Jean Florence Comadena; 88; of North Belle Vernon; passed away Monday; Aug. 16; 2010; in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. A daughter of the late Lawrence and Mary Naccarato Ambrose; she was born in North Belle Vernon on Aug. 29; 1921. Jean was a member of the First Baptist Church; of Belle Vernon. She was totally devoted to her children; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; and was an avid Pittsburgh professional sports fan. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law; Louis S. and Linda Comadena; of Burr Ridge; Ill.; a daughter and son-in-law; Nancy and Skip Endres; of Laurel; Md.; one brother; Raymond Ambrose and his wife; Sandra; of Belle Vernon; one sister; Virginia Comadena and her husband; Mike; of North Belle Vernon; four grandchildren; Brett Endres and his wife; Jennifer; Marc Endres and his wife; Jennifer; Laurie Edwards and her husband; Matt; and Louis Samuel Comadena; six great-grandchildren; Jacquelyn; Amanda; Madison and Sydney Endres; and Chase and Riley Endres. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband of 36 years; Louis Comadena; in 1977; three brothers; Charles; Anthony; and Albert Ambrose; and one sister; Louise Welch. Elane Laszewski; 91; of San Marcos; Texas; formerly of Belle Vernon; on Jan. 9; 2012; in Central Texas Medical Center; San Marcos; Texas. Born in Belle Vernon; on Feb. 13; 1920; she was the daughter of the late Robert and Thora Trew Hamer. She was an active member of the Marion Presbyterian Church; Belle Vernon Golden Agers. Elane was an avid sports fan; following her sons athletic careers from little league through college. She enjoyed watching the Pittsburgh Steelers and the Pirates. She was well-known for her baked goods and divinity candy. Elane delighted friends and family with her sweet treats during the holidays. Besides her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband; Carl; in 1984; a sister; Pearl Hamer Stewart; and a nephew; former NFL official; James Hamer. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; Brian (Janet ) Laszewski; of Nevillewood; Collier Township; and Lee (Leah) Laszewski of San Marcos; Texas; two granddaughters; Anna (Dan) Bryne of Wey Mouth; Mass.; and Susan Laszewski; of Washington D.C.; one nephew; Richard Alan Stewart; of Belle Vernon; great-niece; Jamie (Brett) Kerns; of Belle Vernon; great-nephew; Lee Stewart; of Belle Vernon; a great-great-niece; Lily; and a great-great-nephew; Liam.
