Mary T. (Arabia) Garofalo; 91; of Monessen; died unexpectedly on Thursday; July 12; 2012; in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital; Pittsburgh. She was born in Rogliano; Italy; on Feb. 1; 1921; the daughter of the late Joseph and Theresa Dodaro Arabia. Mrs. Garofalo was a resident of Monessen most of her life; a graduate of Monessen High School and Douglas Business School. She was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church and the Epiphany Ladies. She was an avid card player having played in her neighborhood card club. Mrs. Garofalo had worked at the Irvin Works of U.S. Steel in the accounting department; the Fox Grocery Credit Union and the Mon Valley Community Health Center. In addition to spending time with her family; she also enjoyed cooking and gardening. She is survived by her three children; Kathy (Stephen) Silliman; of Greensburg; Burt (Teresa) Garofalo; of Pittsburgh; Becky (Dave) Damiani; of Richmond; Va.; a brother; Lewis (Ann) Arabia; of Upper St. Clair; two sisters; Evelyn Winn and Sarah A. (Nick) Kostelac; both of Monessen; three grandchildren; Sara and Daniel Damiani and Arianna Garofalo; and by several nieces and nephews. A licensed minister; she had services in her home for the past seven years.
