Dolphine (DuJardin) Powlowsky; 93; passed away peacefully Wednesday; Jan. 9; 2013; at the Baptist Home. She was the wife of the late Valentine Powlowsky; beloved mother of Deanne Powlowsky; Kenneth Powlowsky; Richard Powlowsky; Terry Frederick and the late Eugene Powlowsky; grandmother of Scott; Kara; Jordan; Jared and Gabrielle; and great-grandmother of Brandon; Ashton and Trenton; who filled her life with so much joy. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Per Dolphine’s wishes; there are no visitations. Phillip Michael Seman; 60; of Belle Vernon; Washington Township; died Thursday; Aug. 29; 2013; at 8:35 a.m. peacefully in his sleep; surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Born Nov. 5; 1952; in North Charleroi; he was the son of the late George Sonny Seman Jr. and Frances Malinowsky Seman of Belle Vernon; Washington Township; with whom he made his home. A lifelong resident of Washington Township; Phillip was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. Phillip was truly a special gift to his family and friends and taught them life’s most important lessons of love; laughter; living in the moment and giving joy in his special ways. He loved holidays and snowflakes and falling leaves; Santa and his elves; records and milkshakes; cookies and balloons; and most of all hugs and kisses from his loving mother who cared for him with insurmountable devotion. Phillip will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In addition to his mother; he is survived by three sisters; Francine Mendicino; Mary B. Seman; and Annie Cowen all of Belle Vernon; five nephews; Jason Mendicino and wife; Steffanie; Domenic Mendicino; Michael Mendicino and wife; Nicole; Joseph Mendicino and wife; Jemma; Daniel Mendicino and wife; Vanessa; Justin Cowen; four nieces; Jennifer Cowen; Jessica Cowen; Anne Marie Cowen; Frances Cowen; 10 great-nieces and nephews; and many loving aunts; uncles; cousins and friends. Helen Catherine Manack Zolock; 94; of Belle Vernon; died Oct. 23; 2013; at Southmont Presbyterian Care Center in Washington; Pa. She was born on Oct. 18; 1919; in Van Meter; Pa. Helen is the daughter of deceased Steve Manack Sr. and Helen C. Arva of Belle Vernon. Helen was married to Michael Zolock Jr.; a foreman in the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Co. in Monessen; until his death in 1985 for 46 years. Michael Zolock Jr. was the son of deceased Michael Zolyak Sr. and Elizabeth Dorcsak of Belle Vernon. In 1940; Helen and Mike purchased Gauls Park on Broad Avenue in Belle Vernon. On the four acres; Helen spent 74 years creating her Heaven on earth flower gardens. Today they are known as the Zolock Gardens. But many know them as the people with the flower gardens on Broad Avenue. For over 35 years the gardens were open to the public on the weekends for wedding pictures at no charge. Helen is survived by five children; Stephen A. Zolock; and his wife; Sarah; of Belle Vernon; Barbara Ann (Zolock) O’hara; and her husband; Paul; of Roscoe; Helen Elizabeth (Zolock) Sadler; and her husband; Earl; of Fallowfield Township; Michael John Zolock; and his wife; Mary Gordanier; of Berthoud; Colo.; and David Thomas Zolock; and his wife; Terry; of San Antonio; Texas. Helen is also survived by 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews. Surviving brothers and sisters are; Catherine Manack Matson; Margaret Manack Weaver; Joseph Manack; James Manack and deceased brother John Buck Manack .
