Richard J. Lenio Sr. Belle Vernon Richard J. Lenio Sr.; 75; of Belle Vernon; died Friday; Aug. 3; 2012; at 7:30 a.m.; in St. Anne Home; Greensburg. Born Aug. 21; 1936; in Monessen; he was the son of the late John R. and Mary F. Kurtz Lenio. Richard was a parishioner of St. Sebastian Church; and served as the president and CEO of Frick Tri-County Federal Credit Union. Prior to his retirement; he was active in the credit union movement as league director of the Pennsylvania Credit Union League; chapter president of the Mon Valley Federal Credit Union and manager/treasurer of Lee Norse; Division of Ingersoll-Rand; Federal Credit Union. Richard was the recipient of the prestigious Keystone Award; presented by the Pennsylvania Credit Union League. He also received the 1999 William Pratt Award; which is the League’s top award for credit union professionals. Richard was a strong supporter of charitable fundraising events. He organized annual golf tournaments to benefit Fayette; Washington and Westmoreland County ARC. Richard was the founder and president of the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Monessen. He; along with many volunteers; purchased a former casino and duck pin bowling facility that sat idle in Monessen. After thousands of hours of hard work; the storeroom of St. Vincent de Paul; Mon Valley Council; opened for business on May 26; 1999. Richard received the prestigious Top Hat Award from the St. Vincent de Paul Society; presented to him as an entrepreneur of the Lord whose confidence and resolve built on faith resulted in great accomplishment. Upon graduation from Monessen High School in 1954; Richard enlisted in the Air Force. He was a former member of the Belle Vernon American Legion and organized and ran a weekly fish fry for many years. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan; making weekly trips to Three Rivers Stadium and PNC Park for many years. He was an avid golfer who belonged to several golf leagues. He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law; Terri and Norm Gaul; of Belle Vernon; and Mary and Dave Cullen; of Smithfield; Va.; four sons and two daughters-in-law; Rick Lenio; of Belle Vernon; Gary and Laura Lenio; of Grafton; Ohio; David and Marcia Lenio; of Naples; Fla.; and John Lenio; of Belle Vernon; 11 grandchildren; Robbie and Gianna Gaul; Tyson; Ian and Meredith Cullen; Brianne; Kylie and Owen Lenio; Joshua; Michael and Sarah Lenio; three sisters and brother-in-law; Dolores Yonek; of California; Kathleen Steffey; of Monessen; and Patti and Ron Godla; of Monessen; and a special aunt; Dorothy Jozwiak; of Monessen. He was preceded in death by his wife; Maryann Bruce Lenio; on May 31; 2009. A daughter of the late John and Katherine Rodier Bruce; she was born in North Charleroi on Nov. 21; 1938. A member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church of Belle Vernon; she enjoyed being with her family and friends; socializing with her card club for 47 years; gardening and traveling. Maryann was a resident of Washington Township most of her adult life and was very active in her church and the St. Vincent DePaul Store in Monessen. She retired from Frick Tri County Credit Union in 2005. A loving wife; mother and grandmother; she was totally devoted to her entire family. Survivors include her husband; Richard J. Born on May 16; 1929; in Arnold City; she was the daughter of the late George and Hazel Hill. Doris was retired from Monongahela Valley Hospital after 32 years of service. She enjoyed spending time cooking and watching QVC. Mrs. Lawson was a member of Union Baptist Church in Monessen. In addition to her parents; she is preceded in death by her husband; Frank Lawson Sr.; five brothers; Jimmy; Eugene; George; Bruce and Crawford Hill; three sisters; Hazel Garland; Alice Reddick and Mary Smith.
