Nancy J. Hill; 73; of Belle Vernon; went to be with the Lord on Thursday; Dec. 27; 2012; at Sentara of Northern Virginia Medical Center in Woodbridge; Va. A daughter of the late Ellis and Doris Mills White; she was born in Belle Vernon on Aug. 23; 1939. Nancy was a lifelong member of the First United Methodist Church. She was treasurer of the church for 50 years; a United Methodist Women Mission Financial Secretary for 25 years; a former church choir member and former Sweet Adalines member. Survivors include four sons and daughters-in-law; Howard Lee and Tracey Hill; of Fayetteville; N.C.; Mark E. and Lori Hill; of Mt. Prospect; Ill.; Eric S. and Beth Hill; of Columbia; S.C.; and Ryan T. and Tamera Hill of Woodbridge; Va.; three brothers and two sisters-in-law; Robert White; of Seattle; Wash.; and Thomas and Kathy White; and Ellis and Darla White; both of Charleroi; two sisters and one brother-in-law; Elma and Marty Martinowsky of Belle Vernon; and Doris Kinik of Norvelt; eight grandchildren; Tabitha Hill; Taylor Hill; Jessica Levasa and husband; Fiti; Kelly Hill; Shane Hill; Chase Hill; Joseph Yakel and wife; Jennifer; and Jeremy Yakel; and three great-grandchildren; Amadis Levasa; Liam Levasa and Brianna Yakel. PAUL EDWARD COMADENA
Paul Edward Comadena; 78; of Fayette City (Naomi); died Sunday; July 20; 2008; in his home after a very courageous battle with mesothelioma. A son of the late Steve and Mary Semich Comadena; he was born in Fayette City on May 30; 1930. Paul was a member of St. John the Divine Orthodox Church of Monessen; the Naomi Athletic Club; where he played on the softball team for many years; and the Fairhope Rod and Gun Club. A 1949 graduate of Marion High School; he starred in both baseball and football. His 1948-49 team went undefeated; untied and unscored upon. Paul was elected to the Belle Vernon Area Football Hall of Fame in 2001 and retired in 2003 from the Allenport plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company. An avid high school football fan; he traveled throughout the Mon Valley and beyond to watch key gridiron matchups. Paul also was a fan of Pittsburgh’s professional sports teams. He enjoyed watching his seven grandchildren play sports. Paul also enjoyed gardening; canning; cooking and sharing his fruits and vegetables with family and friends. Many people looked forward to the sauerkraut he delivered on New Year’s Day. He was a devoted and loving husband; father; grandfather and brother. Paul lived by his faith for his family and friends. Survivors include his wife; Ann Yetsconich Comadena; with whom he celebrated 55 years of marriage on May 9; 2008; two daughters and sons-in-law; Sharon Ann and Ron Krepps; of Rostraver Township; and Karen Lynn and Jeff Ludwick; of Belle Vernon; one son and daughter-in-law; Mark Edward and Pamela Comadena; of Normal; Ill.; one sister; Anna Komadina; of Las Vegas; Nev.; four brothers and three sisters-in-law; Mike and Virginia Comadena; of Belle Vernon; Nick and Carrie Comadena; of Logan; Utah; Milton Comadena; of Belle Vernon; George Comadena; of Charleroi; and Florence Comadena; of North Belle Vernon; two brothers-in-law and one sister-in-law; Charles Yaczkanich; of Fayette City; and Olga and Michael Dankovcik; of Monessen; and seven grandchildren; Jordan Comadena; of Normal; Ill.; Ronnie Krepps; of Houston; Texas; Aaron; Chelsea and Jonathan Krepps; of Rostraver Township; and Jesse and Sarah Ludwick; of Belle Vernon. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by two brothers; Louis Comadena and Pete Comadena. ROBERT E.( BOB ) WHITELAW
Robert E. Bob Whitelaw; 74; of Fort Myers; Fla.; formerly of North Belle Vernon; died Wednesday; July 2; 2008. Before moving to Florida to be with his family; he lived in Pahrump; Nev. He was born in Belle Vernon on October 6; 1933; the son of the late Robert E. Whitelaw and Mary Jeffries Whitelaw. Bob retired as a captain from the Los Angeles City Fire Department in 1981. He was a U.S. Navy veteran; serving during the Korean War; and a life member of the North Belle Vernon Fire Department. His memberships also included the Westmoreland County Fire Chiefs Association; Belle Vernon American Legion Post No. 659; and Charleroi VFW Post No. 167. He is survived by his sister; Joanne (Byron) Weightman; of Fort Myers; brother-in-law; Stephen Labosh; of Charleroi; and nephews; R. Byron (Sandra) Weightman; Robert (Mary) Weightman; and niece; Valinda (Kevin) Truax; all of Fort Myers; great-nephew and nieces; and several cousins. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by a sister; Harriet Labosh. A memorial service for family and friends will be held at the North Belle Vernon Fire Department; 535 Graham St.; North Belle Vernon; on Friday; July 18; at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Roy Lewis Whitelaw officiating. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
EDWARD L. WHITE
Edward L. White; 73; of Fayette City; died Tuesday; July 15; 2008; in his home. A son of the late James and Alfretta Soles White; he was born in North Charleroi on February 9; 1935. A resident of Fayette City since his illness in 2004; he lived most of his life in Belle Vernon. Ed was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon; a former member of the North Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department and retired in 1974 from the Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company. He worked for several years as a janitor for the Belle Vernon Area School District and; as a hobby; enjoyed woodworking. Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law; Cathy and James McGavitt; of Fayette City; six sons and one daughter-in-law; William and Mary Campbell; of Lowber; Edward White Jr.; of Las Vegas; Nev.; Millard White; of Rostraver Township; Jeffrey White; of Fayette City; David White; of Belle Vernon; and Timothy White; of Fayette City; four sisters; Audrey Vertosnik; of Cleveland; Ohio; Patricia Parsons; of Belle Vernon; Gwen Vanaman; of Colorado Springs; Colo.; and Sandra Revak; of Youngstown; Ohio; and five grandchildren; James and William McGavitt; Jessica and Melanie White and David Ray White. Also surviving is Eleanor White; of Fayette City. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by one sister; Thelma LaVonne Reed; and two brothers; Harold and James White.
