Helen C. Claire Fretz; 86; of Monessen; died Thursday; Aug. 9; 2012; at her home. She was born Aug. 8; 1926; in Charleroi; a daughter of the late Herbert Helen Pearle Zundel Jones. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Monessen. Surviving are two daughters; Leslie L. Murphy of Monessen and Beth Ann Cocari of North Belle Vernon; four grandchildren; D. Thomas and wife; Christine Murphy; of North Belle Vernon; Amy Murphy Bissett and husband; Jeffrey; of Washington; Alyson Coccari Longnecker and husband; Jason; of Lynwood; and Lauren Coccari Booher and husband; Jessiah; of Moundsville; W.Va.; eight great-grandchildren; Meaghan; Christian and Alexa Murphy; Gillian Bissett; Amelia and Natalie Longnecker; Sarah and Liam Booher. She was preceded in death by her husband; Robert E. Fretz; and a sister; Doris Swaney. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Rhome Funeral Home Inc.; Family Owned and Operated as a Member of the Golden Rule; 1209 Grand Blvd.; Monessen; where friends will be welcomed from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday. Michael G. Bashada Jr.; 80; of North Belle Vernon; died Tuesday; Feb. 23; 2010; at the home of his son Stephen in Loveland; Ohio. Born Jan. 12; 1930; in Belle Vernon; he was the son of the late Michael F. and Mary Wassilchalk Bashada. A lifelong resident of North Belle Vernon; Mr. Bashada was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; was a retired machinist from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Monessen Plant; and a veteran of World War II; having served with the U.S. Air Force. He was also a member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659 and the former Holy Name Society of St. Sebastian Church. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law; Stephen and Angela Bashada; of Loveland; Ohio; two daughters and son-in-law; Tina Tatsch; of Donora; Susan and James Boland; of Lawrenceville; Ga.; five grandchildren; Stephen Bashada; Michelle; Meghan; and Michael Boland; and Justin Tatsch; three great-grandchildren; Skylar; Adriana; and Ashton Bashada; and a brother; Ted Bashada; of North Belle Vernon. He was preceded in death by his wife; Pauline S. Venneri Bashada; who died on Feb. 23; 2008; a son-in-law; Edward Tatsch; and a sister; Mary Ann Minett. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME; Family Owned and Operated; 626 Broad Avenue; Belle Vernon 724-929-6183. Prayer Service will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home followed by funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church with the Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas; pastor; as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian Parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Michael Bashada Thursday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home and the Belle Vernon American Legion will conduct services Thursday evening at 7 p.m. in the funeral home.
