Eugene R. Conn Sr.; 73; of Monessen; passed away Wednesday; Dec. 23; 2009; in Mon Valley Hospital; Carroll Township. He was born Dec. 1; 1936; in Belle Vernon; a son of the late Michael and Genieve Fazio Conn. He worked as a millwright for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel and its subsidiaries for 44 years prior to his retirement. Mr. Conn had owned and operated Conn’s Corner Market in Monessen with his family. He was a member of Epiphany of Lord Church of Monessen and the following clubs: Eagles Aerie 2399 of Monessen; Russian Club of Belle Vernon; Italian Society of Mutual Aid of Monessen; P.N.A. 1146 of Monessen and the Fireman’s Club No. 1 of Monessen. Mr. Conn was also an avid sports fan; following high school and professional teams. Surviving are his long-time companion; Sandy Smelser; a sister; Phyllis Morgan; of Irwin; son; Eugene R. Conn Jr. and Diana Hemmings; two daughters; Renee and husband; Don Hardek; of Monroeville; and Loree and husband; Anthony Blatnik; of Belle Vernon; four grandsons; John and Derek Conn; and Anthony and Connor Blatnik; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; Ilene J. Persico Conn. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC.; family owned and operated as a member of the Golden Rule; 1209 Grand Blvd.; Monessen; where friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Blessing Service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 9:30 a.m.; followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Epiphany of Our Lord Church of Monessen. Internment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Mr. Conn’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society through the funeral home.

William James Jimmy Frezzell; 68; formerly of Monessen; passed away Sunday; Aug. 5; 2007; in Bronx; N.Y. He was born Jan. 9; 1939; a son of the late Edward Frezzell and the late Velma Joyner. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his step-father; Arthur Joyner; one son; Curtis James Frezzell; and one brother; Kenneth Frezzell. Survivors include his children; Lorae; Troyline; Christian; Terri; Perry; Jason and Velma Frezzell; three sisters; Elaine (David) Bowling; of Arizona; Patricia Copeland; of Cincinnati; Ohio; and Gloria Anderson; of Monessen; two brothers; David (Kathleen) Frezzell; of New York; and George E. Frezzell; of Belle Vernon; and a host of nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a memorial service; which will be held Monday; Aug. 27; at noon; in Holy Tabernacle Church of God in Christ; 469 East Main St.; Monongahela.
