Robert Wayne Nelson Sr.; 85; of Belle Vernon (Washington Township); died Saturday; Aug. 30; 2008; at 3:44 p.m. in Allegheny General Hospital; Pittsburgh. Born Oct. 3; 1922; in Monessen; he was a son of the late James W. Nelson I and Grace Vogel Nelson. A resident of Washington Township for the past 58 years; Mr. Nelson was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon and a retired steam plant operator from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Monessen Plant with 43 years of service. His favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing with his brother Jim and his grandchildren; doing crossword puzzles and making his weekly trip to Wheeling Island. Mr. Nelson loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed his garden. Mr. Nelson will be greatly missed. He is survived by the love of his life; his wife; Lorraine Walker Nelson; to whom he was married 62 years; two sons and daughters-in-law; Robert W. Jr. and Pamela Nelson; and Christopher T. Sr. and Cindy Nelson; all of Washington Township; one daughter and son-in-law; Patricia A. and Thomas Canigiani; of Washington Township; one brother and sister-in-law; James W. and Jeanie Nelson II; of Washington Township; two sisters; Mildred Baker; of Monessen; and Lee Manown; of Washington Township; seven grandchildren; Thomas; Nicole and Adam Canigiani; Aaron and Amber Nelson; Shannon Moncini and Christopher Nelson Jr.; and six great-grandchildren; Lila Nelson; Rachel Canigiani; Heather Canigiani and Adam Canigiani Jr.; Dominic Moncini and Ariana Moncini. Paul R. ‘Rebel’ Hefner; 81; of Belle Vernon; died Friday; Aug. 29; 2008; at 7:48 a.m. in Monongahela Valley Hospital; Carroll Township. Born Sept. 18; 1926; in Butchers Fork; W.Va.; he was a son of the late Theodore and Mary Agnes Sandy Hefner. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 50 years; Mr. Hefner was Protestant by faith. He was a retired press operator from General Motors Fisher-Body; West Mifflin. Mr. Hefner was a veteran of the Korean conflict; where he served in the U.S. Army. He also was a member of the Monongahela Slovak Club. Vincent G. Winn; 86; of Belle Vernon; passed away Friday; Oct. 28; 2011; at home with his family by his side. He was born Feb. 26; 1925; in Fayette City; son of the late Guy V. Winn and the late Helen (Hogan) Winn. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; Belle Vernon; life member of Belle Vernon American Legion Post 65; and a life member of the Fairhope Rod and Gun Club. Vince enjoyed bowling in both the Legion and Gun Club Bowling Leagues. He was retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Allenport Plant; in 1982 with 36 years of service. Vince was a Navy veteran; gunners mate second class; assigned to PCS 1425 during World War II. He was a former auditor and supervisor for Washington Township.
