She was born in North Charleroi on March 21; 1963; the daughter of William Holzapfel; who survives and resides in Charleroi; and the late Mary Joyce Cook Holzapfel. In addition to her father; she is survived by her husband; Richard L. Staley; a brother; Myron D. Sprowls; of Charleroi; and by aunts; uncles and cousins. In addition to her mother; she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents; Melvin and Katherine Cook; her paternal grandparents; Myron and Laverna Sprowls; one uncle; Robert Cook; and two special cousins; Kim Cook and Jay Torok. Harry E. Malone Jr.; 81; of Monessen; died Monday; Sept. 8; 2008; in Mountainview Specialty Care Center; Unity Township. He was born in Monessen on June 5; 1927; a son of the late Harry E. Sr. and Helen Isenberg Malone. Harry was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a 1945 graduate of Monessen High School. He was a member of First Christian Church and the Mon Valley Chordsmen. Mr. Malone retired from the Monessen Southwestern Railroad as a supervisor. He served his country during World War II with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS AWS Benson and USS Gainard. He is survived by his son and daughter-in- law; Bruce D. and Elizabeth Malone; of Rostraver Township; his daughter and son-in-law; Colleen and Michael Rogers; of Catlettsburg; Ky.; two grandsons; Jimmy Lee and John Rogers; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife; Loretta Walters Malone; and his brother; Howard Malone. Robert Wayne Nelson Sr.; 85; of Belle Vernon (Washington Township); died Saturday; Aug. 30; 2008; at 3:44 p.m. in Allegheny General Hospital; Pittsburgh. Born Oct. 3; 1922; in Monessen; he was a son of the late James W. Nelson I and Grace Vogel Nelson. A resident of Washington Township for the past 58 years; Mr. Nelson was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon and a retired steam plant operator from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Monessen Plant with 43 years of service. His favorite pastimes were hunting and fishing with his brother Jim and his grandchildren; doing crossword puzzles and making his weekly trip to Wheeling Island. Mr. Nelson loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also enjoyed his garden. Mr. Nelson will be greatly missed. He is survived by the love of his life; his wife; Lorraine Walker Nelson; to whom he was married 62 years; two sons and daughters-in-law; Robert W. Jr. and Pamela Nelson; and Christopher T. Sr. and Cindy Nelson; all of Washington Township; one daughter and son-in-law; Patricia A. and Thomas Canigiani; of Washington Township; one brother and sister-in-law; James W. and Jeanie Nelson II; of Washington Township; two sisters; Mildred Baker; of Monessen; and Lee Manown; of Washington Township; seven grandchildren; Thomas; Nicole and Adam Canigiani; Aaron and Amber Nelson; Shannon Moncini and Christopher Nelson Jr.; and six great-grandchildren; Lila Nelson; Rachel Canigiani; Heather Canigiani and Adam Canigiani Jr.; Dominic Moncini and Ariana Moncini. Paul R. ‘Rebel’ Hefner; 81; of Belle Vernon; died Friday; Aug. 29; 2008; at 7:48 a.m. in Monongahela Valley Hospital; Carroll Township. Born Sept. 18; 1926; in Butchers Fork; W.Va.; he was a son of the late Theodore and Mary Agnes Sandy Hefner. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 50 years; Mr. Hefner was Protestant by faith. He was a retired press operator from General Motors Fisher-Body; West Mifflin. Mr. Hefner was a veteran of the Korean conflict; where he served in the U.S. Army. He also was a member of the Monongahela Slovak Club. He is survived by his wife; Darlene Martz Hefner; to whom he was married 11 years; five daughters and three sons-in-law; Carol and Keith Langford; of Perryopolis; Roberta and Anthony ‘Neno’ Strelecki; of Allenport; Cheryl Thompson; of Belle Vernon; Misty Conn; of Connellsville; and Charlotte Lambert (Clark); of Belle Vernon; two sons and one daughter-in-law; Allan Clark Jr.; of Belle Vernon; and Jerry and Yvonne Clark; of Fayette City; one brother and sister-in-law; George and Mary Ann Hefner; of Belle Vernon; one sister; Thelma Flint; of Monongahela; 15 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
