Freda H. Booth Smith; 96; of Taylorville; formerly of Charleroi; PA; passed away at 8:25 a.m. Saturday; April 12; 2014 at Taylorville Memorial Hospital in Taylorville; IL. She was born April 17; 1917 in Listonberg; PA a daughter of Howard C. and Georgia (Wilhelm) Fresh. She married Edward L. Smith in Maryland; he preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter; Kay (Kenneth) Betler of Taylorville; 3 granddaughters;Kara (Joe) Reber of Taylorville; Kendra (Brian) Vanzo of Haubstadt; IN and Shelly Cardinale; PA and 3 great-granddaughters; Kaytlyn Reber; Kenzi Reber and Aubrey Cardinale; a sister; Maxine Henry of Rockwood; PA and a daughter-in-law; Mary Artis of New Eagle; PA. She was also preceded in death by a son; Gary Booth; 2 brothers and a sister. She was a sales associate at Collins Department Store; Montgomery Wards and Bartalotta’s Grocery retiring in 1987. She was a member of the Taylorville Moose Lodge. Memorials may be made to C.A.R.A. Animal Shelter in Tilton or The Humane Society of the United States.

Bernard A. Girhiny; 87; of Rostraver Township; passed away Saturday; Dec. 22; 2012. A son of the late Andrew and Elizabeth Ferenz Girhiny; he was born June 3; 1925. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by two sisters; Margaret Gocella and Emma Beneccio; and a brother; Jules Girhing. He is survived by his wife of 41 years; Betty Pulaski Girhiny; a stepson; Edward Sweeney of Shaler Township; a stepgranddaughter; Meghan Sweeney; two sisters; Elizabeth S. Girhing of Pricedale and Julia (Jay) Matway of Carroll Township; and a brother-in-law; Larry Gocella of Delaware. Alberta M. (Walker) White; 90; of Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township); died Tuesday; Jan. 20; 2009; at 8:35 p.m. in Mon Valley Care Center; Carroll Township. Born Aug. 28; 1918; in Charleroi; she was the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Alice Walker. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 22 years; having previously resided in Lorain; Ohio; Mrs. White was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon and was a homemaker. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law; Joseph J. Jr. and Faith Walker; of Speers; two sisters; Dolores R. Harhai; of Monessen; and Lorraine Nelson; of Belle Vernon (Lynnwood); and numerous nieces; nephews; great-nieces and nephews; and great-great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; Thomas P. White; in 1996. Visitation will be held at the LEONARD J.
