Lawrence M. Moran; 79; of Belle Vernon (Fairhope); passed away in his home on Thursday; June 25; 2009. A son of the late Michael and Mary Oblak Moran; he was born in West Newton on May 26; 1930. A member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church of Belle Vernon; he had been a resident of Fairhope since 1967. Lawrence was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and retired in 1974 from the Irvin Works of U.S. Steel Co. After his retirement; he was self employed as a landscaper and enjoyed watching his children and grandchildren play sports; as well as landscaping around his own home. Survivors include his wife; Geraldine Hawk Moran; with whom he celebrated 57 years of marriage on March 20; 2009; two daughters and one son-in-law; Romaine Moran. of La Plata; Md. and Tracey and Ronald Paugh; of Elkridge; Md; one sister; Amelia Dainty; of Lowber; one brother; John Moran; of West Newton; and two grandchildren; Ronald Lawrence Paugh and Kayli Nicole Paugh. Geraldine M. Chookie Moran; 80; of Belle Vernon; passed away Thursday; Jan. 20; 2011; in Monongahela Valley Hospital. A daughter of the late William and Mary Condash Hawk; she was born in Arnold City on July 1; 1930. Chookie was a lifelong resident of Belle Vernon; was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church. She loved her children and grandchildren and going to the casinos. Survivors include two daughters and one son-in-law; Romaine Moran; of LaPlata; Md.; and Tracey and Ronald Paugh; of Elkridge; Md.; one sister; Marian Coleman; of Cape Cod; Mass.; one brother; Robert Hawk; of Cleveland; and two grandchildren; Ronald Lawrence Paugh and Kayli Nicole Paugh. Joseph J. Sabol; 95; formerly of Belle Vernon; Rostraver Township; died Friday; March 15; 2013; at 10:40 p.m. at Monongahela Valley Hospital; Carroll Township. Born Feb. 28; 1918; in Monessen; he was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Boltyzar Sabol. Mr. Sabol was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and was retired from Fisher Body; Dravosburg; where he worked in the die layout from 1950 to his retirement in 1985. He enjoyed working around the house; playing cards; fixing anything that was broken and spending time with his family. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law; Joseph G. and Susan M. Sabol of Mercersburg; Thomas and Belle Sabol of Arroyo Grande; Calif.; and Richard and Lisa Sabol of West Chester; daughter and son-in-law Catherine A. and Robert Pfingsten of Madison; Ohio; and six grandchildren; Joseph C. Sabol; Molly K. Sabol; E. Claire Sabol; Sarah T. Smith and husband Lee; Anna Sweeney and Alexandria Sweeney. He is preceded in death by his wife Phyllis Diethorn Sabol; a brother; Edward Sabol; and a sister; Josephine Kuzma.
