Marlene Renee Laidley; 60;of Monessen died April 12; 2013 at home. The daughter of the late Isaac and Jessie Laidley; was born Dec. 9; 1952. Marlene graduated from Monessen High School; Class of 1972. For many years she was employed as a school crossing guard; watching over the children as they traveled to and from school. Veronica Otrosina; 89; of Monessen; died Thursday; Jan. 30; 2014; at Flo’s Personal Care Home in Elco. Mrs.Otrosina was born in Donora on June 26; 1924; a daughter of the late James and Mary Nagy Balogh. She was a homemaker and a member of Calvary United Presbyterian Church in Donora. She also belonged to the Women’s Association of the church. She loved gardening; crocheting; knitting and playing cards. Mrs.Otrosina was also a great storyteller of the past. Mrs.Otrosina was preceded in death by her husband; William R.Otrosina who died in 2012. Survivors include her five children; William (Judy) Otrosina of Watkinsville; Ga.; James(Debra) Otrosina of Monessen; Janelle (Ernest) Halgas of Monessen; Craig (Lisa) Otrosina of Monessen; and Barry (Yvette) Otrosina of Glen Burnie; Md.; eight grandchildren; Susan Otrosina; Jonathan Otrosina; Katherine Broullire; Joyce; James Jr.; Holly and Sarah Otrosina and Amanda Halgas; one brother; Joseph (Olga) Balogh of Carroll Township. John Zadrozny Sr.; 90; of Belle Vernon; Fairhope; died Saturday; March 30; 2013; at his home. Born Feb. 7; 1923; in Arnold City; he was the son of the late Pete and Christina Kosiba Zadrozny. Mr. Zadrozny was a lifelong resident of Belle Vernon; member of St. Joseph Polish National Catholic Church where he served a past council president. He was retired from Corning Glass of Charleroi as a process engineer with 45 years of service. John was a veteran of World War II; having served in the U.S. Army Air Force overseas with the 781st Bomb squadron located in Italy; the 465th bomb group; the 55th Bomb Wing and the 15th Air Force in the European theater. He also served on the board of directors of the 781st Bomb Squadron Association; was member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659; Charleroi VFW Arden Calvert Post 167 and PNA Lodge 976 Arnold City; a graduate of Marion High School; Class of 1941; and served on the board for the Corning Glass Federal Credit Union and the board at the Center on the Hill. John also enjoyed gardening; hunting and fishing. He is survived by his wife; Helen Kuyon Zadrozny to whom he was married 66 years; two sons and daughter-in-law; John Fud and Kathy Zadrozny of Fairhope; Robert Zadrozny of Perryopolis; two grandchildren; Donald Zadrozny of Clearwater; Fla.; Jan Marie Zadrozny of Sawyer; Mich.; two sisters; Helen Heino of Dunlevy; and Mariann Estok of Melbourne; Fla.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother; Frank Zadrozny.
