He was born in Rostraver Township;Aug.13;1939;a son of the late James W.and Gertrude Jackson Fleming Sr. Mr.Fleming was Protestant by faith. He was a member of the F&AM Lodge 643 of Belle Vernon;Uniontown Lodge of Perfection;where he was a 14th degree Mason;Valley of Pittsburgh Consistery;where he was a 32nd degree Mason;Rostraver Lions Club;Belle Vernon Moose;Russian Club;Hungarian Club;Norwich Township Sportsmen’s Club and Fairhope Rod and Gun Club. He was a former member of the Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Company No;2. Mr.Fleming retired in 1995 as a welder with LTV Steel. He was a former state constable in Rostraver Township. He was a U.S.Navy veteran. Robert E. Fretz;69;of 35 Monessen Blvd.;Monessen;died Thursday;July 25;1996;in Mon Valley Hospital;following a lengthy illness. Born July 24;1927;in Monessen;he was the son of the late George and Marion Campbell Fretz. A veteran of World War II;Mr.Fretz had served with the U.S.Navy. He was employed as a pattern maker at the former Combustion Engineering prior to his retirement in 1988. Mr.Fretz was a member of the United Methodist Church;Monessen;and Monessen Lodge 638 F&AM. He was a life member of the Hilltop Firemen. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by a brother;Gilbert Pender. Born May 6;1933;in Adairville;Ky.;he was a son of the late Booker T.and Beatrice Jones Farmer. An employee of Koppers Inc.;Monessen;Mr.Farmer had lived in the Mon Valley for more than 50 years;coming here from Kentucky. He was a member of Elks Okay Lodge 697 of Monessen. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by a daughter;Denise Farmer. Oliver LaLa Feehan;80;of Westgate Manor;Monessen;died Monday;March 11;1996;in Monongahela Valley Hospital. Mr.Feehan was born on May 19;1915;in Monessen;a son of the late Thomas and Olive Ferguson Feehan. Presbyterian by faith;Mr.Feehan was a lifelong resident of Monessen. He was also a retired steward of the Charleroi Elks and a member of the Monessen Elks Lodge 733. Mr.Feehan was a sergeant with the U.S.Marine Corps and served in World War II during the Pacific Theater War. Mr.Feehan was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He is survived by cousins. Born Sept. 19; 1913; in Belle
Vernon; he was the son of the
late Milano and Teresa
Angelina Piantini Franceschi.
Mr. Franceschi moved to
Florida last year; having spent
the rest of his life in the Belle
Vernon area.
He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic
Church; Belle Vernon.
Mr. Franceschi served 45
months with the U.S. Army
during World War II; serving
three years and two months in
the African and European
theatres of operation. He received nine battle stars and
other decorations and participated in the invasions of north
Africa; Sicily and southern
France.
He was a life member; active
more than 51 years; of Belle
Vernon American Legion Post
659; where he held the post of
commander several times since
first being elected to it in 1953.
He held many other offices in
the post.
He was a life member of the
North Belle Vernon Volunteer
Fire Department and had memberships in the East Belle Vernon Athletic Club and Post 699
Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was retired from the
Monessen Southwestern Railroad Company of WheelingPittsburgh Steel Corp.
In addition to his parents; he
was preceded in death by his
first wife; Margaret; in 1965;
four brothers; Oscar; Eugene;
Lee and Amerigo Franceschi;
and one sister; Sabina Pupilli.
Surviving are his wife; Magdelin Wisyanski Franceschi;
one daughter; Mrs. Patrick
(Elsa Tosca) Sauritch of Jupiter; Fla.; one son and daughterin-law; Milan (M.J.) and Melanie Franceschi of Franklin
Park; one stepson; Randy Ondulick of Monongahela; one
brother and sister-in-law; Albert and Mary Franceschi of
Belle Vernon; one sister; Mrs.
Neal (Elsie) Guadagnino of
Belle Vernon; and three granddaughters and one grandson.
