Julius Jack Robert Smalko;75;of Belle Vernon R.D.2 (Rostraver Township);died Monday;Aug.26;1996;at his home. Born April 14;1921;in Genoa;Ohio;he was a son of the late Charles and Margaret Bittlesmith Smalko. Mr.Smalko was a golf course superintendent in New Jersey;from where he retired. He was Catholic by faith. Survivors include his wife of 54 years;Irma L.Popp Smalko of Rostraver Township;three daughters;Carol Finlayson of Stuart;Fla.;Mary Gill of New Market;Md.;and Marie Hanson of Cape Cod;Mass.;one brother;Ernest Smalko of Plainfield;N.J.;one sister;Margaret Marchand of Newell;eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. There will be no public visitation. The James C.Stump Funeral Home;inc.;Sweeney Plan;Rostraver Township;is in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth Smith;86;of 1035 Ashley Hill Rd.;Mansfield;Pa.;died Saturday;Aug.10;1996;at 1:50 p.m.in the Robert Packer Hospital;Sayre. Born April 25;1910;in Belle Vernon;she was a daughter of the late William and Maria Holland Mears. Mrs.Smith was a resident of Belle Vernon until 1992;when she moved to Haines City;Fla. She also resided in Mansfield since 1993. She was a homemaker and member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include two daughters;Mrs.Wayne (Donna) Dias of Haines City;Fla.;and Mrs.Dale (Bobbie Ann) Stone of Mansfield;four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by a daughter;Darlene L.Patterson;who died on June 1;1995;a grandson;Kevin Patterson;in 1960;her first husband;Robert Scott and her second husband;Herbert Smith in 1991. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.at the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home;626 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon. Services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m.in the funeral home with the Rev.James J.Mimidis;pastor of the Pricedale Union Baptist Church;officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
