He was born Oct. 29;1928; in
Monessen; a son of the late Salvatore Taravella; who died in
July 1993; and Francis DiPiazza Taravella; who survives
and with whom he resided.
He was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman
Catholic Church; Monessen. He
was a member of the Moose; the
Eagles and the American Legion. He was a lifelong resident
of Monessen. He retired in 1986
from the Allenport Plant of
Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel;
where he was an engineer on
the railroad. He was a U.S.
Army veteran of the Korean
Conflict.

Thomas E.Turnbull;67;of Wick Haven;died Sunday;Feb.5;1995;at 6 p.m.in Jefferson Hospital. He was born Oct.26;1927;in Monongahela;a son of the late Thomas and Mary Todd Turnbull. Mr.Turnbull was a graduate of Monongahela High School with the class of 1944. He served with the U.S.Coast Guard during World War II;participating in the Asiatic-Pacific campaign and the American campaign. After 44 years of employment;he retired from Combustion Engineering Company of East Monongahela. He was also employed at Perry Auto Auction. He was a member of the national level of AARP. He was an elder in the Harmony Presbyterian Church. Mr.Turnbull battled Lou Gehrig Disease (ALS) for the past 15 months. Surviving are his wife;Dorothy Ann Hawk Turnbull;four children;Scott Turnbull of Greensburg;Mrs.James (Kathy) Kelly and Mrs.Matthew (Mary Beth) Sweeney II;all of Belle Vernon;and Thomas Mark Turnbull of Wick Haven;and five grandchildren;Lauren;Ryan and Kaytlin Kelly;Corey Turnbull and Matthew Sweeney III.
