He was born in Monessen;Sept.28;1917 and had resided in Belle Vernon for the past 20 years moving there from Dunlevy. He was a member of St.Sebastian R.C.Church;Belle Vernon;and a veteran of World War II;serving in the U.S.Army. He was employed in the billet yard of Allenport Plant;Pittsburgh Steel Co.and was a committeeman for Local 1137 of the Allenport Plant. He was president of the Garibaldi Beneficial Society of Dunlevy. Surviving are his widow;Theresa De Simone Checchi;two daughters;Marie A.;a student nurse at Mercy Hospital School of Nursing;Pittsburgh;and Arlene F.at home;his mother;Mrs.Julia Checchi;Dunlevy;two brothers;Alfred Mazzei of Charleroi and Robert Checchi of Beverly Hills;Calif.;two sisters;Mrs.Delmo (Florence) Bartolozzi;Dunlevy;Mrs.Donald (Elvira) Bello;Monessen. Friends are being received at the Shelby D.Ferguson Funeral Home;Belle Vernon;where services will be held Monday;Aug.1;1966;at 9:30 a.m.followed by Requiem High Mass at 10 a.m.at St.Sebastian R.C.Church;Belle Vernon. Ralph G.Chapman Sr.;47;of 343 Union Place;Akron;Ohio;died Saturday at 2:15 p.m. in Akron City Hospital after a lengthy illness. Mr.Chapman worked as an assembler for William Engineers in Akron. He was a veteran of World War II;having served with the United States Army. Mr.Chapman was born at Blue;W.Va.;March 15;1919. Virginia attended the Rostraver schools and was a member of St.Timothy’s. Surviving besides her parents are five sisters;Christine;Candice;Maureen;Marlyn;Margaret;and two brothers;Alan and Ronald;all at home;paternal grandparents;Mr.and Mrs.Ridsy Calderone Sr.of Pricedale;maternal grandmother;Mrs.Margaret Davis of Belle Vernon. Interment took place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Harold R.Toner was the funeral director.
