Residents today mourned the passing of Mr.North Belle Vernon. James A.Miller;75;justice of the peace for 30 years in that borough;a former burgess;fire chief and municipal leader;died at his home;607 Henry St.;North Belle Vernon on Sunday July 10;1955;at 4 p.m. For almost half a century Squire Miller was identified with practically every civic and community advancement project in the north borough. As a councillor of the Junior Order of American Mechanics he also gained a wide reputation throughout the Monongahela Valley for work in this lodge. He was a member of the Methodist Church of Belle Vernon. Survivors include his wife Mrs.Edith Richards Miller;two sons;Howard and James Miller of Belle Vernon;one daughter;Mrs.Beatrice Dessent;Clarksburg;W.Va.;and one brother;William of Belle vernon. Two grandchildren also survive. Friends will be received at the Toner Funeral Home during hours of 1 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Services will be held there Wednesday;July 13;1955;at 2:30 p.m.;in charge of Rev.William Schatz. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Harold R.Toner is the funeral director.

Pvt.Melvin Lee Moats;23;of Cook Street Extension;Fayette City;died in Korea;November 30;1950. He was serving with the United States Army in Korea and was reported missing in action. His body had been found in a cemetery in former communist-held territory. He was born in Jefferson Township July 21;1928;a son of Mr.and Mrs.Wesley Moats. He was a member of the Fayette City Christian Church. He was a brother of James and Mrs.Philip Karcesky of Fayette City;Mrs.Thomas Matty of Star Junction and Paul and Thelma at home.His body is being returned to Fayette City;and friends will be received at the McCrory Funeral Home after 11 a.m. Thursday;June 30. Services will be held there Saturday;July 2;1955;at 2 p.m.;in charge of Rev.John Bowers;of the Fayette City Christian Church;and interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Full military rites will be conducted by Brightwell Daughtery Post 484;American Legion;Fayette City. George M.McCrory and Son are the funeral directors.

She was born Dec.27;1912;in Arnold City;a daughter of the late John and Anna Janek Tomalski. On April 29;1936;in Smithton;she married Michael A.Kundrat. He preceded her in death on Oct.19;1968. She was also preceded in death by two brothers;Frank and Ben Tomalski;and a sister;Victoria Peroney.
