Struck by an automobile near her home;a six-year-old Arnold City girl was fatally injured late Wednesday;June 12;1957. Charmaine Moran;daughter of Mr.and Mrs.Lawrence Moran;of Arnold City;ran into the path of an automobile operated by William A.Dews;age 65 years;of Fayette City. The girl was picked up by the driver and removed to Charleroi-Monessen hospital at 3:35 p.m. Mortal injuries claimed her life at the hospital at 6:35 p.m. The girl had been playing near a road roller. Dews stopped and had talked with the operator of the road roller. He was pulling away from the highway machine when Charmaine dashed from behind the roller and directly into the path of Dews machine. She was knocked to the highway and the wheels of the machine passed over her body;investigators disclosed. Friends will be received at the McCrory Funeral Home;where services will be held Saturday;June 15;1957;at 2 p.m. Rev.George Guest of the Marion Presbyterian Church will be in charge;and interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Ralph Andrew Maxwell;68;of 117 Eighth St.;Monessen;died Wednesday morning;April 10;1957;at 12:20 o’clock. Mr.Maxwell had been custodian at the Monessen High School for the past 20 years. He is survived by his wife;Mrs.Bessie Maxwell;a son;Dr.H.J.Maxwell;who is a member of the Pennsylvania State Legislature and two grandchildren. He was a retired postal dispatcher of the Monessen Post Office where he worked for 30 years and was a resident of Monessen for 23 years before moving to Belle Vernon in 1945.
