Mrs.Estella Henry Bowers;wife of the late John Henry Bowers of Fallowfield avenue;died at 10 p.m.Wednesday;Sept.27;1944 at the Charleroi-Monessen hospital where she had been a patient for two months. Mrs.Bowers;a member of the esteemed Henry family;formerly of Henry street;Belle Vernon;came here with her husband in the early years of her marriage. The Bowers property;still standing today;was the first to be settled in the borough of Charleroi. She was active with her husband in the early history of the town;and has spent her entire life in this section of the valley. She was a member of the First Methodist Church and its various organizations;and of the Athene Club. Surviving are her son;Lloyd H.Bowers and her daughter;Mrs.Russell L.Carl of Pittsburgh;and one brother I.F.Henry of Okmulgee;Okla. Friends will be received at the Frye Funeral Home and services will be held there Saturday;September 30;1944;at 2:30 p.m. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Noah Grant Behanna;Jr.;aged 29 years;died Friday;July 14;1944 at the St.Joseph Hospital;Baltimore;Md. He had been a resident of Monessen for the past eight years;and before his illness was in the employ of the open hearth department of the Pittsburgh Steel Company.
