One of Belle Vernon’s best
known merchants; Angelo Dolfi;61;of 310 Henry street;died Monday night;June 7;1948;while attending a baseball game betwen the Pittsburgh Pirates and the New York Giants at Pittsburgh. Mr. Dolfi collapsed shortly after taking his seat in Forbes Field and was taken to the field first-aid room where he was prononuced dead by the club physician. A number of Catholic Priests answered a summons over the loud speaker and the last rites of the Church were administered by Rev.Fr.Edward Joyce;at St.Andrew’s Church;North Side. Dr.William D.McClelland;Allegheny County coroner reported death due to a coronary occulsion. Mr.Dolfi;who conducted a grocery store at 519 Broad avenue;was attending his first game this year. He was in apparent good health and was looking forward to the event. He was accompanied to Forbes Field by Gene Niccolai;10 Johnson street;Belle Vernon;who had been an employee at the Dolfi store for more than 25 years;and Danny Mackovich;50;401 Fayette street;a butcher at the store. Mr.Dolfi was a member of the North Belle Vernon Fire Department;and the Italian Beneficial Society and is survived by his wife;Mrs.Amelia (Mary) Dolfi;two daughters;Mrs.Nello Ferrati of Belle Vernon;and Evelyn Dolfi;at home;three sons;Alfred;Ernest;music instructor in the Rostraver Township schools;and Angelo Emil Dolfi;all of Belle Vernon. Five grandchildren also survive. Friends will be received at the late home until Friday at 10 a.m.when a Requiem Mass will be sung at the St.Sebastian Church with Rev.Fr.Eugene W.Harkins officiating. Interment will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
