James S.Hare;died Saturday;July 22;1939;at 5:30 p.m.at his home on Graham St.;Belle Vernon following a lingering illness. He was in his 80th year. Surviving are his wife;Mrs.Olive Hare;one son;James Hare of Fairmont;W.Va.;and a daughter;Mrs.Hazel Saunders at home. Two grandchildren and one great-grandchild also survive. Friends will be received in the late home until 2 o’clock the afternoon of Tuesday;July 25;1939;when funeral services will be held;Rev.G.Meade Dougherty of the Belle Vernon Methodist Episcopal Church;officiating. Interment will be made in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Harold R.Toner;funeral director in charge.

William Henry Hoffman; aged 71; well-known throughout Fayette county; died at 5 o’clock Tuesday morning; at his home in Fayette City; of a complication of diseases. Mr. Hoffman was a master mechanic at a number of county mines and also operated a plumbing establishment for many years in Uniontown.
Mr. Hoffman was a 2nd degree Mason; being affiliated with Masonic bodies in Masontown; Uniontown; and Pittsburgh.
Surviving is the widow; Essie Hoffman; three children; Roy H.; of Connellsville; Arthur J.; Scranton; and Mrs. Eletha Cocking; of Los Angeles; two sisters; Mrs. L. F. Athey; Tarentum; and Maude; of Baltimore; and two brothers; Robert; and George; both of Fairhope. His former wife; Birdie D. Bliss; preceded him in death 20 years ago.
Short services will be held at 2:30 Friday afternoon at the family residence; followed by additional rites in the church. Burial will be in Belle Vernon cemetery.
