Henry Staff; aged 80 years;
died Wednesday; September 13;1944;
at 7 p. m.; at his home; 328 Market street; Belle Vernon; following an illness of eleven months.
Mr. Staff was a member of the
Presbyterian Church and had been
in the employ of the American
Window Glass company for a
period of 20 years.
Survivors are a son and daughter; Mrs. Jane Hamilton and Thomas Staff; both of Belle Vernon.
Seventeen grandchildren and 12
great-grandchildren also survive.
Friends are being received at the Melenyzer Funeral Home where services will be held Sunday afternoon;September 17;1944;at 2 o’clock with Rev.George Kress of the Presbyterian Church officiating. Alex Sondak;age 64 years;formerly of Belle Vernon;died at the home of his daughter;Mrs.Ann Mongeluzo of Donora on Wednesday;March 29;1944;at 8:25 p.m.after an illness of five months. He is survived by three daughters;Mrs.Mary Dinnini of Jeannette;Mrs.Ann Mongeluzo of Donora and Mrs.Jane Farilli;also of Donora;and five sons;Mike;John and Metro Semercznak of Belle Vernon;Joseph Smerecznak of Elizabeth and Pfc.William Semercznak of Camp McKean. Also surviving are eight grandchildren. Friends will be received at the Toner Funeral Home and services will be held in the Greek Orthodox Catholic Church in Monessen on Sunday;April 2;1944;at 2 p.m. Father Theodore Gezza will have charge of services and interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Mrs.Dorcas A.Smock;age 90 years;of Speers;died at her home Wednesday;February 2;1944;at 11:50 p.m. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Belle Vernon;and is survived by one brother;Van Price of Homestead;two nieces;Mrs.Elsie Ream at home and Mrs.Della Halstead of Charleroi;and one nephew;Harry E.Price;also of Charleroi.

Mrs.Mary Rosena Smock;aged 88 years;one of the oldest residents of Monessen;died at 1 a.m.;Wednesday;January 26;1944;at the home of her daughter;Mrs.Curtis Gates;801 Rostraver street;following a lingering illness. Mrs.Smock has spent her entire life in this immediate vicinity;having been born in Belle Vernon. Surviving are one daughter;Mrs.Gates;two sons;Russell V.and Grover Smock;both of Monessen;three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Six brothers also survive;John Amalong;Fayette City;Griffith;Owen and Fred Amalong;Belle Vernon;Wade Amalong;Charleroi and George Amalong;Louisiana.
