Ross O.Shephard;aged 57;a resident of Monessen until two months ago;died at the home of a relative;John Reese;Lincoln Place;near Homestead;Pa.at twelve noon on Sunday;July 7;1940. He had been ill for a period of two years. Surviving are his wife;Mrs.Gwendolyn Shephard;one daughter;Mrs.Mary Dessent of Belle Vernon;three sons;Ross of Belle Vernon;Joseph and Robert of Monessen;one brother;Edward Shephard of Braddock;and one sister;Alice of Swissvale.Friends will be recieved at the Toner Funeral Home;626 Broad Avenue;Belle Vernon;until Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock when services will be held;the Rev.G.C.White officiating. Joseph E. Springer; aged 44
years; a life long resident of Belle
Vernon; died Friday; June 28;1940 at
2:45 p. m.; in the Eye; Ear and
Nose Hospital; of Pittsburgh.
Death followed an illness of eleven
weeks.
Mr. Springer attended and was
graduated from the Belle Vernon
High School; and was a member of
the American Legion; having spent
ten months overseas in the World
War. For the past 20 years he
been employed at the Page Mill in
Monessen.
Surviving are his wife; Mrs.
Maude Springer and five children;
Cora Belle; Lois; Ruth; Donna and
Robert. His mother; Mrs. Cora
Springer; also survives; along with
four sisters; Mrs. William Jones;
Belle Vernon; Mrs. Kenneth Russel;
Holvoke; Mass.; Mrs. William
Jeffries; of State College and Miss
Grace Springer; Belle Vernon.
Friends will be received at the
home of Mr. Springer’s mother;
Mrs. Cora Springer; 209 Broad
avenue; until 11 o’clock Monday
morning; July 1; when the remains
will be removed to the Melenyzer
Funeral Home; where services will
be held Monday afternoon at 2:30.

C.Andrew Sisca;aged 61;404 Broad Avenue;Belle Vernon;died at his home on Monday;June 3;1940. Mr.Sisca was a tailor. Frederick Steinmiller; Sr.; aged 81 years died in Charleroi-Monessen Hospital at 4 p m. Tuesday; February 20;1940. Death followed a long illness. Surviving are four daughters; Mrs. R.G.Ganz of Hendersonville;Mrs.Ernest Reese of Belle Vernon; Mrs. Steve Nichols of Eighty-Four; and Mrs. Margaret Briggs of Charleroi; four sons; Jacob of Belle Vernon; Herman of Library; Philip of Charleroi; and Frederick; Jr.; of Dunlevy; thirty-eight grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Mr. Steinmiller had been a resident of this community for many years. He made his home with a
