Leonard J. Pearce; 41; of Belle Vernon; died Saturday; Nov. 2; 2002; in Rostraver Township. Born June 19; 1961; in North Charleroi; he was the son of the late James and Anna Marie (Bodnar) Pearce. He was Protestant by faith. Surviving are four brothers; William G. Pearce of Monessen; Michael P. and Edward R. Pearce of Belle Vernon and James T. Pearce of Webster; a sister; Mary Ann Stoneman of Monessen; two nieces; Tina Pearce Vandergraf of Donora and Deborah Pearce Jacobs of Irwin; and a nephew; Geddie Lee Stoneman of Monessen. Jane Etta Spencer-Harris; 61; of Monongahela died Monday; Oct. 28; 2002; in Mon Valley Hospital. She was born Nov. 25; 1940; in Monessen; a daughter of the late Rev. Harrison James and Minnie Bettis Spencer. She was a 1958 graduate of Monessen High School and earned an associates degree from Point Park College in 1960. She also attended Robert Morris College for advanced business studies. She worked for the Department of State in Washington D.C. from 1960 to 1966; and the Department of Defense in Pittsburgh as a contract administrator; and then the Department of Labor in Pittsburgh as a contract compliance specialist until 1988. Jane was an avid reader; especially finding pleasurable the challenges of memorizing scripture. She also supported philanthropic causes and public library activities. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by one sister; Dr. Carol Ann Spencer. She married her lifetime sweetheart and partner; Robert C. Harris in 1961; who survives. She was also survived by two sisters; retired Col. Dorothy E. Spencer of Spotsylvania; Va.; Harriet Spencer Bennett and husband; Racy; of Simpsonville; S.C.; three aunts; Martha Spencer Farmer of Baltimore; M.D.; Sophie Spencer Palmer of Monroeville; and Katherine Spencer Payne of Martinsville; Va.; and a host of devoted cousins; nieces; nephews and extended family members and friends. Friends will be received Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the BEVERLY C. DRAPER FUNERAL HOME; 608 Sixth St.; Monessen. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in Mt. Eleanor M. Schneider; 79; of Speer Street; North Belle Vernon; died Monday; Oct. 28; 2002; in Haven Crest Nursing Center. A daughter of the late Frank R. and Mary E. Garren Carper; she was born Sept. 15; 1923; in North Belle Vernon. Protestant by faith; she had resided most of her married life in the Belle Vernon area and had worked for the former Sweeney’s Restaurant in Rostraver Township as a waitress and as a clerk for the former Barbara Joyce Restaurant in the Tri-County Plaza. Survivors include her husband; Theodore J. Schneider; two daughters and sons-in-law; Peggy and Norb Michalski of Rostraver Township; Jean and Shelby D. Ferguson of Belle Vernon; two sisters and a brother-in-law; Virginia and Walter C. Mood of Monessen; Inez Traynor of Forward Township; and two special friends; Henry and Evelyn Renstrom of Tarrs. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by two friends; Albert and Gertrude Kissler.
