Pinned underneath when his automobile overturned on the Uniontown road near Hopwood this morning after midnight;;March 2;1915;Joseph T.Roley;aged 32 years of Belle Vernon was instantly killed. Miss Bertha Jones;a pretty manicurist of Uniontown;who was in the car with him at the time;was somewhat injured and was taken to the Uniontown hospital. It was told that Roley and the girl were on their way back into Uniontown after a little jaunt into the country in Roley’s automobile. In rounding a curve;it is said;the car skidded into a pile of ties and overturned in such a way that the drive was caught;and the girl thrown aside by not under the car. Mr.Roley’s neck was broken but his body was not mangled. Mr.Roley was born and raised in Belle Vernon and for years conducted a livery business there. He has been a member of the firm of Vance and Roley;automobile dealers;and was in a Dodge car when the accident happened. He was a son of the late Squire Roley;and his mother;Mrs.Hannah J.Roley;five sisters;and one brother survive. The brother is W.H.Roley;of Belle Vernon;and the sisters are Mrs.A.C.Sphar;of Maple Creek;Mrs.Charles Reed;of Pittsburg;Mrs.Oscar A.Brawdy of Belle Vernon;Miss Jennie J.Roley and Miss Jessie Roley;of Belle Vernon. Interment was made on Thursday;March 4;1915 in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
