Betty Jane West; 90; of Belle Vernon; died Monday; March 5; 2007; at the West family home in Belle Vernon. She was born Dec. 22; 1916; in Homestead; moving to Allenport and then to Belle Vernon when she was a child. Betty graduated from Belle Vernon High School at the top of her class in 1932. She attended a local business college and then went to work for her lifetime employer; Pittsburgh Steel. She worked in Monessen and Allenport for 47 years; retiring in 1982. In retirement she traveled extensively. In her later years she taught young people to read as part of a successful mentoring program. Betty also continued her collecting hobbies while she continued her lifetime involvement with her church family at the First United Methodist Church of Belle Vernon. Betty loved and supported all things in nature while sustaining a backyard bird feeding program until she passed. She is survived by her nephew; Dave Bosson and wife Sherry; of Napa; Calif.; and their children; Lauri Heely; Jule’ Bosson Gunn; Janine West Bosson; Paul David Bosson and Adam A. Cosimo J. Antonucci Jr.; 76; of Charleroi; died Wednesday; Sept. 22; 2004; at his residence. Born Aug. 8; 1928; in Long Branch; he was a son of the late Cosimo and Divina Santoro Antonucci. He had been employed by Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Allenport Plant until his retirement. A World War II Army veteran; Mr. Antonucci had been a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church in Monessen. He had also been a member of the 10th Street Athletic Club; where he was an avid bowler; the VFW; the American Legion and the Vets Club; all in Charleroi. He served as the Mayor of Twilight Borough; a Democrat Committeeman; and had been an umpire in the Mon Valley for many years. Prior to moving to Charleroi in June 2004; he lived in Twilight for 29 years. Survivors include his wife of 54 years; Beverly J. A lifelong resident of North Belle Vernon; Mrs. Angelo was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; Belle Vernon; a graduate of Belle Vernon High School; class of 1932; the St. Sebastian Legion of Mary; St. Anthony Society; Anita Garibaldi of Belle Vernon; where she was named as a Mother of the Year; member and past regent of the former Catholic Daughters of the Americas; Court Belle Vernon 1522; and a member of the Westmoreland County Elections Board for over 42 years. She was known as the personal secretary for the former mayor of North Belle Vernon; the late Pat Angelo. Mrs. Angelo also was part owner of Pat’s Dairy Bar in North Belle Vernon from 1947 to 1960; and she worked at the former Miller’s Department Store in Charleroi for 13 years.
