John S. ‘Jack’ Means; Jr.; 86; of Perryopolis died Friday; September 7; 2007 in Mercy Hospital; Pittsburgh. A son of the late John S.; Sr. and Ida Bennett Means; he was born in Newell on March 3; 1921. Jack was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon where he had served as an elder; the F. & A.M. Gummert Lodge 252; the Uniontown Lodge of Perfection; the Consistory and Syria Shrine; both of Pittsburgh. A resident of Perryopolis since 1952; he was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army and retired in 1983 from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company. Dorothy Denise Dee Joyner; 50; of Charleroi; passed away suddenly at her home on Thursday; Aug. 30; 2007. She was born Jan. 29; 1957; a daughter of Sally Cady; who survives and resides in Charleroi. She resided in York for five-plus years but was a resident of the Mon Valley all her life. She was employed as a licensed practical nurse. Dee ; as she was called by those who were close to her; had a heart for people. In addition to her mother; she leaves to cherish her memory two sons; Eric and William Brown; of Charleroi; one daughter-in-law; Sharie Smith; one god-daughter; Kiana Prosser; one granddaughter; Kali Brown; one grandson; Elijah Smith; and a host of nieces; nephews; cousins and friends. A daughter of the late Andrew and Julia Zamorski Dohan; she was born in Fairhope on July 14; 1914. Helen was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church of Belle Vernon and had resided in Fairhope her entire life. Survivors include her sister; Mary Ottena; with whom she made her home; one sister-in-law; Myra Dohan of Belle Vernon and three nieces; Virginia; Cecelia and Georgina. Born March 5; 1919 in Belle Vernon; he was the son of the late Rosario and Saletta Bitonti Sellaro.
A lifelong resident of Washington Twp.; Mr. Sellaro was a member of St. Sebastian R.C. Church; Belle Vernon where he served as an usher for the Saturday evening mass for many years. He was a retired steelworker from Whg-Pgh Steel; Monessen Plant; member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659; VFW Belle Vernon Post 699; the nite time McDonald’s coffee club in Rostraver Twp.; a veteran of World War II where he served in the US Army and the recipient of the Purple Heart.

GEORGE H. BELSICK
George H Belsick; 84; of Belle Vernon (Fairhope); passed away Thursday; Aug. 30; 2007; in Mon Valley Hospital Inc.; Carroll Township; following a lengthy illness. He was born Sept. 1; 1922; in Naomi; Washington Township; Fayette County; a son of the late Frank Belczyk and the late Mary Kuwada Belczyk. He was a member of Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church; Fayette City. George graduated from Marion High School in 1941 and entered the U.S. Army in 1942. He was a member of the 104th Infantry 414th Regiment Company E Timberwolf Division. His World War II experience took him through France; Belgium; Holland and Germany; where he received a battlefield commission as a 2nd lieutenant. His citations included a Bronze Star; Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster to the Bronze Star; Purple Heart and Combat Infantry Badge. After the conclusion of the war; George continued his military service with the Army Reserve; retiring in January 1967 with the rank of Major. He was a member of Charleroi VFW Post 167 and retired from Wheeling- Pittsburgh Steel; Monessen plant in 1983 with over 40 years of service. George enjoyed hunting; fishing; working on projects and spending time in his garden. He was a loving person who enjoyed his family and will be sadly missed by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his son; Larry Belsick and wife Ruthie; and two daughters; Nancy Walko and husband Joe and Judy Walko; all of Belle Vernon; two brothers; Andrew Belsick and Jack Belczyk; both of Fairhope; five grandchildren; Kevin and Kristen Belsick; Michael Walko and wife Shannon; Melissa Porter and husband Bryan; and Joey Walko; one great-grandchild; Carly Walko. Raymond Moody Jr.; 61; of North Belle Vernon; died Wednesday; Aug. 29; 2007; in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. A son of the late Raymond and Evelyn Woods Moody; he was born in North Charleroi on Jan. 15; 1946. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; the North Belle Vernon Volunteer Fire Department; the Knights of Columbus Council 3026 and the American Legion; Post 659; all in Belle Vernon. An avid hunter and fisherman; Ray was; at one time; active in Belle Vernon youth soccer and baseball; and he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era. A resident of Belle Vernon for the past 36 years; he had been employed by U.S. Steel Corporation; Irvin Works. Survivors include his beloved wife of 36 years; Judith Ann Ceccarelli Moody; two daughters and sons-in-law; Mary Lou and Chris Hasson; of Rostraver Township; and Marci and Ken Seliga; of Belle Vernon; one son and daughter-in-law; Ray and Jill Moody; of Belle Vernon; eight grandchildren he adored; Brendan and Marissa Hasson; Tyler; Logan; Dylan and Kenzi Rae Seliga; and Hunter and Tanner Moody. Thomas A. Shoman; 63; of Somerset; formerly of Roscoe; died peacefully Wednesday; August 29; after a lengthy illness.
He was born February 25; 1944 in N. Charleroi; a son of the late James E. and Helen M. Jesko Shoman. He was former member of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church.
Survivors include three brothers and their wives; James and Carol Shoman of Washington; Pa.; Robert and Kim Shoman of Youngstown; Ohio; and Ronald and Nancy Shoman of Canfield; Ohio.
