Augustine M. Augie Moreau Behrendt; 91; formerly of Monessen; died January 31; 2008. Mrs. Behrendt was born February 29; 1916; in Monessen and moved to The Villages; Fla.; from Sterling; Ill.; in 2004. She was an elementary school teacher and principal in Monessen and was a world traveler who loved reading and crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her parents; Louis and Louisa Moreau; her husband; Herman Carl Behrendt; and her brothers; Eugene Moreau and Gustave Moreau. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law; Dr. Richard L. and Janice K. Behrendt; of The Villages; Fla.; a daughter; Louise Ann Kelly; of St. Clair Shores; Mich.; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She will be interred in Belle Vernon Cemetery with arrangements made by FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME and CREMATORY INC.; Belle Vernon. A memorial service will be held in the spring in the First Baptist Church of Manlius in Wyanet; Ill.

Frank J. ”Pete” Staropoli; 44; of Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township); died Tuesday; January 29; 2008. Born in Clairton on July 9; 1963; beloved son of Parents; Frank A. Staropoli & Sandra Oliver of Rostraver Township and Theresa (Staropoli) & Bill Campbell of Orlando; Florida.
Pete was a member of the Church of St. Anne in Rostraver Township and the Holy Name Society of the Church. He was Manager of Starr Auto Service; Inc.; Starr Auto Wrecking & Starr Auto Parts in Rostraver Township for 30 years. He was active in the Rostraver Midget Football League; coached T-ball and Girl’s Softball. He enjoyed hunting; silhouette pistol shooting and was an avid trap shooter. He was a member of the NRA; and several sportsmen associated gun clubs. He was a Harley-Davidson motorcycle enthusiast and enjoyed NHRA Drag Racing.

Francis Thomas Tom Post; 61; of Monessen; died Sunday; February 3; 2008; in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born July 7; 1946; in North Charleroi; a son of Francis H. and Caroline Mandarino Post; who survive. He was Catholic by faith and a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserve from 1965 to 1971. Mr. Post enjoyed camping and doing auto repair work. He was an employee of Matt Canestrale Construction Co. as a mechanic. Jonathan M. Murt; 22; of Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township); passed away Sunday; Jan. 27; 2008; as a result of injuries sustained in a fire at Seven Springs Mountain Resort. Jonathan was born in Pittsburgh on Feb. 10; 1985; the son of Thomas W. and Mary Lou Malinchak Murt. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon and a 2003 graduate of Belle Vernon Area High School; where he was a three-year varsity letterman and team captain in basketball. He also excelled in baseball and volleyball. Jonathan graduated with honors from West Virginia University with a degree in electrical engineering and was a member of the National Honor Society and the Beta Rho Chapter of ETA KAPPA NU electrical and computer engineering fraternity. He just recently began to flourish in his professional life with Converteam Inc.; where he recently returned from a three-month company assignment in San Diego; Calif.; and was looking forward to his next venture. Raymond Frank Sanino; 69; of Monessen; died Monday; Jan. 28; 2008; in UPMC Mercy Hospital; Pittsburgh. Born Feb. 10; 1938; in Monessen; he was a son of Theresa Mazzei Sanino; who survives and resides in Belle Vernon; and the late Flavio Pudgy Sanino. He was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; Belle Vernon. Mr. Sanino was a retired manager from Prudential and; in 2000; retired as the manager of AAA in Fort Myers; Fla. He was a member of the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026; the Naomi Club and a social member of the Belle Vernon American Legion. In addition to his mother; he is survived by his wife; Norma Alberini Sanino; to whom he was married 49 years; two sons and daughters-in-law; Raymond and Anita Sanino; of Fort Worth; Texas; and Michael and Sally Sanino; of Frederick; Md.; one daughter and son-in-law; Lynda and Scott Haitz; of Reston; Va.; one brother and sister-in-law; John and Pat Sanino; of Dyer; Ind.; one sister and brother-in-law; Barbara and Michael Presa; of Prince Frederick; Md.; and seven grandchildren. Helen K. Sivak; 88; of Monessen; died Sunday; Jan. 27; 2008. She was born in Monessen on March 19; 1919; a daughter of the late Vasil and Anna Chornak Krivyanik. She was a lifelong resident of Monessen and a 1937 graduate of Monessen High School. Mrs. Sivak was a former member of St. John the Divine Orthodox Church and its Ladies Guild in Monessen. She worked as a sewing machine operator at the former Brookvale Clothing Factory and had worked in the snack bar at the Rostraver Garden Ice Rink for many years. Mrs. Sivak enjoyed playing cards and belonged to several card clubs over the years. She is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law; G. David and Kathy Sivak; of Hempfield Township; John Sivak; of Reno; Nev.; and Myron Sivak; of Butler; her daughter; Mary Anne Sivak; with whom she made her home; a sister; Anna Williams; of Belle Vernon; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband; George Sivak; in 1963; four brothers; George; John; Michael and William Krivyanik; and one sister; Mary Savage.
