A. Hazel Weibl; 89; of Monessen; died Wednesday; Jan. 23; 2008; in Southwestern Nursing Center. She was born May 10; 1918; in Monessen; a daughter of the late Vasil and Mary Marchick Guzzie. She was a member of St. John the Divine Russian Orthodox Church of Monessen and its Ladies Altar Guild; serving as a former treasurer and vice president; and the church council; serving as a trustee. Surviving are two daughters; Geraldine Gerri Varsel; of Moon Township; and Stacy (Patsy) Maione; of Monessen; one son; Fred Weibl; of Winfield; W.Va.; eight grandchildren; Susan Azzarello; Bill Varsel; Nancy Plappert; Vincent Maione; Stacie Abbot; Natalie Shrader; Roslyn Payne and Edward Weibl; and 19 great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death was her husband; Edward Weibl; three brothers; George; John and William Guzzie; four sisters; Mary Mattie; Julia Koltash; Ann Affeltranger and Helen Berthinee; her daughter-in-law; Janice Weibl; two great-grandchildren; Armand Maione and Rachel Abbot; and one grandson-in-law; Jeff Abbot. CHRISTOPHER SHAWN BISSETT
Christopher Shawn Bissett; 22; of Perryopolis; passed away Wednesday; Jan. 23; 2008; due to injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born Sept. 5; 1985; in Monongahela; the son of Robert and A. Kimberly Miller Bissett; who survive and reside in Perryopolis. Chris graduated from Frazier High School in 2003 and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August 2003. He was stationed out of Norfolk; Va.; and serving as a small arms instructor aboard the USS Harry S. Truman; an aircraft carrier. Chris received the Top Gun Award for Excellent Marksmanship. During his four years in the Navy; he served in the Persian Gulf during Operation Iraqi Freedom. In addition to his parents; he is survived by one sister; Jamie Bissett; at home; his maternal grandmother; Evelyn Miller; of Beallsville; his paternal grandparents; Hubert and Mary Louise Bissett; of Waynesburg; and many aunts; uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather; William Miller. He will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Fred N. Grados; 75; of Belle Vernon; died suddenly on Saturday; Nov. 15; 2008; in UPMC Presbyterian; Pittsburgh. He was born Monday; Feb. 13; 1933; in Washington Township; a son of the late Nicholas Grados and the late Steffa (Kwapian) Grados. He was a U.S. Navy veteran; a member of American Legion Post No. 695 in Belle Vernon; American Legion Post No. 484 in Fayette City; where he was a past commander; Gummert Lodge No. 252 in Fayette City; and the Syria Shriners. Fred also was a member of many other clubs; and he enjoyed socializing with family and friends. He was retired from the Monessen plant of Wheeling- Pittsburgh Steel with 30-plus years of employment. He is survived by his wife of 52 years; Jennie (Puhnaty) Grados; his children; Michael (Susan) Grados; of Sarasota; Fla.; Kathy (Mel) Hawker; of Grindstone; Steven Grados; of Monongahela; and Jennifer (Brian) Russo; of Canonsburg.
