Albert Red Zackal; 87; of Belle Vernon; died Thursday; May 1; 2008; at 1:10 p.m. in Monongahela Valley Hospital; Carroll Township. He was a member of the Fayette City First Presbyterian Church and retired from United States Steel Corporation; Christy Park in 1975 as a bomb inspector. He enjoyed parking cars for Belle Vernon Area High School sporting events and was an avid BVA sports fan. Mr. Zackal was a lifelong member of the Belle Vernon Fire Company No. 2 and helped out at the Sunday evening bingo for years. Born in Star Junction on September 8; 1920; he was the son of the late Louis and Julia Bene Zackal. His twin brother; Alec Zackal; and brothers James Zackal; John Szakal; Lewis Zackal; Steve Zackal and Gilbert Szakal; are deceased. Three of his sisters; Mary Torruiso; Erma Kenyherz and Sarah Kenyherz also preceded him in death. He is survived by his wife of 62 years; Jean Graham Zackal; of Belle Vernon; and his son; Wayne Zackal and wife; Betty Ann; of Garards Fort; Pa. Also surviving are three grandchildren; Heather Etner and husband Martin; of Falls Church; Va.; Carrie LaMere and husband Rob; of Youngstown; Fla.; and Justin Zackal of Volant; Pa.; great-grandchildren; Dylan Etner and Steven LaMere; Rachel LaMere and Erik LaMere; two sisters; Agnes Erdely and husband John; of Perryopolis; and Olga Martin; of Stratford; Conn.; and several nephews and nieces. Raphael J. Ray Dwornick; 83; of Forward Township (Monongahela); passed away Friday; April 22; 2011; in Monongahela Valley Hospital; Carroll Township. A son of the late Andrew and Marion Soroka Dwornick; he was born in McKeesport on Oct. 1; 1927. Ray had been a resident of Forward Township for the past 43 years and was formerly of the McKeesport area. An Army veteran of World War II; he retired in 1985 from the Irvin Works of U.S. Steel Corp.; where he had been a pipefitter. Survivors include his wife of 60 years; Virginia M. Balog Dwornick; three daughters and two sons-in-law; Susan and Shelby D. Ferguson II; of Belle Vernon; Teresa J. Dwornick; of Morgantown; W.Va.; and Nancy and John Chesson; of Lincoln Borough; a son and daughter-in-law; Paul and Barbara Dwornick; of Washington; two sisters; Dolores Kolodziej; of McKeesport; and Lorraine Jesionoski; of Versailles; nine grandchildren; including Laura Gilchrist and her husband; Thomas; of Pleasant Hills; Adam Ferguson and Karlee Ferguson; both of Belle Vernon; Michael Boczkowski; of Yuma; Ariz.; Joseph Boczkowski; of Charleston; S.C.; and Alison Boczkowski; of Morgantown; W.Va.; and one expected great-grandchild.
