Arthur B. Carney; 70; of Roscoe; passed away peacefully on Thursday; Jan. 19; 2012; in Monongahela Valley Hospital. Born Jan. 30; 1941; in Charleroi; he was the son of the late Beverly Swaney Carney Robbins and Arthur H. Carney. Mr. Carney was a member of the Roscoe United Methodist Church and American Legion Post No. 801; also in Roscoe. He is survived by a nephew; Thomas Wells and wife; Tracy; of Monessen. Martha Weiss Mazzei; 84; of Belle Vernon; Rostraver Township; passed away Thursday; Aug. 8; 2013; at her home while gardening and doing what she loved. Born Sept. 27; 1928; in North Charleroi; she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine (Krissko) Weiss. Mrs. Mazzei was a resident of Belle Vernon; Rostraver Township; since 1951; with her late husband Dominic Mazzei; who passed away Jan. 18; 2013. She was a homemaker; member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; member of numerous card clubs and a past member of the former Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court 1522 and the Knights of Columbus Council 3026 Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling and playing bocce. She loved her family and was affectionately known as the world’s best pie-maker and crocheted a blanket for every one of her grandchildren as they graduated from high school. Surviving are her six children; Mary Joyce and Joe Biondo of Belle Vernon; Margaret Miller of Cleveland; Ohio; Martha Jo Joey Mazzei of Harrisburg; Katherine and Jim Monahan of Perryopolis; David and Tara Mazzei of Charleroi; and Loretta and Gary Flower of Smithton; 14 grandchildren; Christine; Lisa; Rachel; Sarah; Maggie; Joey; Allison; Lee Ann; Anthony; John Daniel; Rose; Greg; Sadie and Sandi; seven great-grandchildren; Sofia; Addison; Nina; Vincenzo; Caden; Vito and Ethan; two brothers and sister-in-law; Leo Weiss of Texas; Thomas and Elaine Weiss of Dunlevy; a sister and brother-in-law; Theresa and Bill Bartolotta of Greensburg; and three sisters-in-law; Anita Sefchok of Belle Vernon; Millie Mazzei of Belle Vernon and Elvira Weiss of Youngwood. Dominic J. Mazzei; 92; of Belle Vernon; Rostraver Township; died Friday; Jan. 18; 2013; at 4:45 a.m. at his home surrounded by his family. Born Aug. 4; 1920; in Belle Vernon; he was the son of the late Angelo and Maria Cardamone Mazzei. Dominic purchased the dairy and egg farm in 1944; selling milk; eggs; vegetables and the best corn in the Valley for many years. He was very active in St. Sebastian church with spaghetti dinners; lawn fairs; the parish council and the maintenance committee. He was a member of the Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026 organizing numerous Night at the Races; the children’s Christmas parties and was Knight of the Year in 1995. He was also an avid bowler with the K of C league and received a ring for a perfect 300 game. In his later years; he was active with MARS pool and poker leagues. Dominic enjoyed going to the horse races at the Meadows with his brother Frank and friend Jim Mendicino and the dog races at Wheeling Downs with his wife; Martha; and Bill and Betty Vizza. He was also a bus driver for the Belle Vernon Area School District from 1970 to 1992.
