Anna D. Samek; 89; of Boardman; Ohio; formerly of Belle Vernon (Arnold City); died Sunday; July 20; 2008; in Boardman. She was born September 29; 1918; in Arnold City; a daughter of the late Stephen Samek and the late Rose Pasturik Samek. She was retired from Corning Glass Co. in Charleroi and a member of Holy Spirit Roman Catholic Church in Fayette City; where she served as a housekeeper to the Rev. Thomas Rinn and was caretaker of his mother. Anne moved to Ohio in 1999. She was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan; enjoying the Steelers; Penguins and especially the Pirates. Survivors include her devoted sister; Mary Muzina; with whom she made her home in Boardman; and her children who were like Anna’s own; Dorothy (Bill) McBride; of Poland; Ohio; Bob (Mary) Muzina; of Tuckahoe; N.Y.; Alicia Muzina; of Boardman; and Annette (Dave) Hospodar; of Poland; one brother; Steve (Jean) Samek and nephew David (Janet) Samek; all of Arnold City; seven great-nieces and nephews; and six great-great-nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by one brother; John; one brother-in-law; John Muzina; and one niece; Rosemarie Muzina. She was born May 19; 1922; in Monessen; the daughter of the late Richard and Ethel (Sadler) Webb. Dorothy was a member of First Christian Church in Charleroi. She is survived by three sons: Richard T. Swan; of North Charleroi; Carl Swan and wife Cindy; of Burleson; Texas; and Robert Swan and wife Connie; of Maryland; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by one daughter; Florinda; and her husband; Kenneth Swan; in 1984; and her daughter-in- law; Elayne A. Swan; on April 4; 2009. A son of the late William D. and Ethel Booth Smith; he was born in Purcell; Pa.; on Feb. 16; 1944. Homer had resided in Webster since 1960 and was employed as a truck driver for Webster Auto Parts.
