Helen B. Githens; 88; formerly of Belle Vernon; died Monday; July 28; 2008 in the Oak Hill Rehabilitation Center; Greensburg. A daughter of the late George and Helen Surovchak Brindzak; she was born in Pricedale on June 25; 1920. Helen was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon and had lived most of her adult life in Belle Vernon. Survivors include one son and daughter-in-law; Kenneth and Kim Githens; of Greensburg; one daughter and son-in-law; Nancy and Lawrence Ihnet; of Langhorne; one sister; Margaret Kelly; one brother; Andrew Brindzak; and four grandchildren; Jill; Todd and Alan Githens and Stephanie Ihnet. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband; Robert T. Githens; on January 30; 2000; and one brother; George Brindzak. Peter Kelly Jr.; 87; of Stroal Acres; passed away peacefully on Monday; Oct. 17; 2011. He was a World War II veteran; who proudly served in the U.S. Navy. After the war; Mr. Kelly went to work for Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel in the Allenport plant; from where he retired as a craneman. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church and a 50-year member of American Legion Post 801; both in Roscoe. Pete was a loving husband to his wife of 61 years; Margaret Brindzak Kelly; the beloved father of two daughters; Patricia Christopher and her husband; Dennis; of Penn Hills; and Susan Kelly; of Roscoe; and a caring grandfather to his two grandsons; Gregory Christopher and Chad Christopher and his wife; Ashley. He is preceded in death by his 12 brothers and sisters. C. George Bonari; 75; of Rostraver Township; went home peacefully to be with his Lord on Friday; July 23; 2010. A son of the late Cosmo and Adeline (Carcelli) Bonari; he was born on Motheral Avenue in Monessen on May 15; 1935. Mr. Bonari retired from Pittsburgh Public Schools after teaching for 34 years as an industrial arts teacher and guidance counselor. George was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon; where he had served as a deacon and president of the Men’s Association. Currently he served as a member of the Joybells Handbell Choir; a member of the Worship and Music Committee; and the treasurer of the Men’s Association. Mr. Bonari served his country in the Army National Guard; and served Rostraver Township as the president of the Recreation Board; a soccer coach and referee; a girl’s softball coach; and Boy Scout leader. Currently; he was also a member of the Rostraver Township Zoning Hearing Board; and the Belle Vernon Lions Club. He was preceded in death by one brother; Lawrence Bonari; of Edgewater; Md. Barbara J. Sagona; 70; of Rostraver Twp. passed away Wednesday; July 28; 2010 in Allegheny General Hospital. A daughter of the late Steven and Bertha Smith Sepashe; she was born in Pricedale on December 31; 1939. She was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church; Alpha Psi Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma Society; Catholic Womens College Club; Monessen Retired Teachers group; the Italian American Heritage Society; Perryopolis Travel Club and served on the reunion committee of Rostraver High School Class of 1958. Formerly of Fallowfield Twp.; she had resided in Rostraver since 1985. Barbara graduated from California University of Pennsylvania and retired after 29 years as a 6th grade teacher at the Washington Elementary Educational Park in the Washington School District. She was an artist; enjoyed painting; photography and traveling. Survivors include her husband of 49 years; Andrew ‘Cook’ Sagona; two daughters and one son-in-law; Lisa Sinnamond of Belle Vernon and Ellen and Jay Niessner of Charlotte; NC and one grandson; Steven Sinnamond.
