David A. Day; 75; of Lynnwood; Belle Vernon; passed away on Tuesday; October 25; 2011 in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. A son of the late Charles and Sara (Eland) Day; he was born in Monessen on June 8; 1936. He was an accomplished guitar player and had his own band; The Day Dreamers in the 60’s. David also played the organ and keyboards; but his favorite hobby was working in his wood shop making beautiful trains; cars; etc. He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Allenport; where he operated No. 4 crane; for 42 years. Survivors include his wife of 51 years; Marijo (Chunkala) Day; two sons and two daughters-in-law; Timothy and Tracy Day of Charleroi and Kenneth and Rachelle Day of Belle Vernon; four grandchildren; Jessica; Hannah; Justin and Chad; one sister; Mary Ann Varga of Monessen; two brothers-in-law; Jerry Chunkala and wife Dolores of Fellsburg and Thomas Chunkala of Pricedale; and a host of nieces; nephews and other relatives. Blanche M. Sabo; 90; of Rostraver Township; formerly of Belle Vernon; died Sunday; Dec. 16; 2007; in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. A daughter of the late John and Caroline Russell Kosik; she was born in Pricedale on July 4; 1917. Blanche was a lifelong member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church of Belle Vernon; the former Catholic Daughters of America; and retired from the former Hill’s Department Store. Survivors include a daughter; Bernadette Zunic of Rostraver Township; a son and daughter-in-law; William and Patty Sabo of Coal Center; three grandchildren; Michael Sabo of Georgetown; Ky.; Jonathan Sabo and his wife; Julie; of Belle Vernon and Annette Trenk of Rostraver Township; two stepgrandchildren; Tifani Russell and Randy J.
