Private funeral services were held this morning for Sophie Zuro; 82; of Monessen; who passed away Wednesday; Feb. 18; 2009; in Jefferson Regional Medical Center; Jefferson Hills. She was born March 23; 1926; in Rostraver Township; a daughter of the late Nicholas and Sophie Opar. She attended the New Hope Assembly of God Church in Elizabeth Township. She is survived by her husband; Peter Zuro; her daughter; Gloria Braddock; of Monessen; one grandson; Brad Braddock and wife Bridget; of Holbrook; one great-grandson; Colton Braddock; and two sisters; Julie Moskola; of Monessen; and Evelyn Peckyno; of Bethel Park. She was preceded in death by one brother and sister; Alex Opar and Mary Wysochanski. He was born April 26; 1919; in North Belle Vernon; Pa.; son of the late Nicholas and Anna Mitush Zuro. He worked as a mason for various companies in the construction industry. He was a member of New Assembly of God in Elizabeth. Surviving are his daughter; Gloria Braddock; of Monessen; a grandson; Brad and wife; Bridget Braddock; of Holbrook; Pa.; a great-grandson; Colton Braddock; three sisters; Jean Astle; of Belle Vernon; Ann Mezoff; of Bell Aire; Md.; and Doris Booth; of Belle Vernon; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife; Sophie Opar Zuro; brothers; John; Michael; Stephen; and William Zuro; and two sisters; Olga Zuro and Eve Stranka.
