She was born June 9; 1922; in New Eagle; to the late Robert and Ruth (Grundy) Abbott. Prior to her retirement; Dorothy was employed as the head cashier for Equitable Gas Co. in Pittsburgh. She was a member of St. Barbara Church in Harrison City; the Young at Heart group of the Church; the Franklin Squares of Monroeville and the Legacy International Square Dancing Association. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by a brother; Thomas Abbott. Dorothy is survived by her husband of 64 years; Robert J. Evelyn Eve Drudul; 82; of Belle Vernon; died Thursday; July 23; 2009; in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital; Pittsburgh. A daughter of the late John and Margaret Gast Lyall; she was born in Morgan City; La.; on April 20; 1927. A resident of Belle Vernon for most of her adult life; she was a member of the First United Methodist Church; and prior to her marriage; she was employed for several years as a secretary in Louisiana. Frank Robert ‘Chick’ DeRose; 81; of Little River; S.C.; formerly of Monessen and Madison; Conn.; passed away unexpectedly on Monday; Dec. 29; 2008. He was born April 28; 1927; in Monessen; a son of Vincenzo and Constance (Damore) DeRose. Chick was employed at American Chain and Cable (formerly Page’s) in Monessen; Atlantic Wire in Branford; Conn.; and Wallace Silversmiths in Wallingford; Conn. At the age of 17; he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during World War II; serving in the Pacific (Guam) with the 5th Service Department Fleet Marine Force (1945-1949). Chick was instrumental in organizing annual reunions for the Fifth Field Marine National Reunion. He attended and was honored at the 50th year Liberation of Guam. Chick was a charter member of the Marine Corps League in Calabash; N.C.; and was active in many military organizations. After retiring; Chick and his wife Irene moved to South Carolina in 1999. He was a member and very active in Our Lady Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church in North Myrtle Beach. Chick was a lifelong Pittsburgh Steelers fan and an avid football fan at every level. Patsy J. Denti; 102; formerly of Monessen; died Wednesday; Feb. 1; 2012; in Jefferson Regional Medical Center. He was born in Newell on April 29; 1909; the son of the late Anthony and Nicolena (Barbarula) Denti. Mr. Denti resided in Monessen for 93 years before moving to Bethel Park to live with his son and daughter-in-law. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society; the Knights of Columbus No. 954; Sons of Italy; and the Italian Society of Mutual Aid. He retired with 50 years of service from the Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; having worked in the fabric department and the blooming mill. He was preceded in death by his wife; Mary D. (Altemara) Denti; whom he loved to dance with to the sounds of the Guy Lombardo and Glenn Miller bands. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law; Joseph P. and Sandra (Machusko) Denti; of Bethel Park; a grandson; Capt. Joseph R. He was born in Monessen on July 13; 1918; the son of the late Bill and Concetta Dustolfo Dalfonso. Mr. Dalfonso was the owner and operator of the Raymond D. Dalfonso Funeral Home in Monessen from 1959 until his retirement in February of 1995. Ray was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. He was also a member of the Monessen Lions Club; American Legion Post 28; Knights of Columbus Council 954; Sons of Italy; all of Monessen; and a former member of the Mon Valley Funeral Directors Association. He was a veteran of World War II; having served with the U.S. Army.
