Margaret White Sterner; 90; of Belle Vernon; Rostraver Township; died Thursday; Sept. 9; 2010; in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital; Greensburg. Born Feb. 29; 1920; in Jeannette; she was the daughter of the late William and Nora McCarthy White. A lifelong resident of Rostraver Township; Mrs. Sterner was a member of Pricedale Union Church; a retired clerk from Pricedale Post Office; a homemaker; loved her grandchildren; and was affectionately known as Grandmother of the Year. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law; Kathy and James Sichi; of Belle Vernon; and Becky Bernard; of North Belle Vernon; four grandchildren; Leigh Ann and Eric Kostelac; of Washington Township; Eric and Theresa Sichi; of Twilight; Jennifer Renee and Rob Cooper; of Rostraver Township; and Heather Lynn Bernard; of North Belle Vernon; and five great-grandchildren; Eric J. Kostelac; Sage Kostelac; Jacob Sichi; Ava Kuvinka and Gavin Cooper. She was preceded in death by her husband; Donald W. Sterner; who died on March 1; 1998; three brothers; William White Jr.; Jimmy White; Johnny White; three sisters; Elizabeth Bibby White; JoAnn Rice; Violet Roberts; and a son-in-law; Skip Bernard. Olive Mae Cope; 88 of Fayette CIty; Pa; passed from this life on Sunday; October 4; 2009 in her residence with her family by her side.
She was born June 19; 1921 in Fayette City; Pa.; Daughter of the late John Lindey and the late Phyllis Davies Lindey. She was employed as a seamstress during World War II and later become a Homemaker.
Surviving are her husband of 67 years Paul Gus Cope; whom she married on February 14; 1942; Son; Rev. Paul G Cope; Pastor of Mars Alliance Church; and wife Connie Schleh Cope of Mars; Pa; 2 Daughters; Rev. Donna Lee Hoover; pastor of Abide in the Vine Fellowship; and husband Rev. Fred Hoover of Apalachin; NY and adopted daughter Dawn Hickey LaFrate of Clinton Twp.; MI; 11 Grandchildren and 26 Great Grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by 2 infant daughters: Sandra Cope and Karen Cope;2 brothers Lewis Lindey and Stanley Lindey;3 sisters Mary Jolley; Lavina Jones and Phyllis Hickey.
