William R. Bill Horrell Sr.; 84; of Belle Vernon; founder of MarBill’s; went home to be with the Lord; with his family by his side on Thursday; Feb. 9; 2012. A son of the late James William Horrell and Charlotte Margaret Forseyth Horrell; he was born in Belle Vernon on July 9; 1927. Prior to establishing MarBill’s with his wife; Ann; in 1964; he was an engineer and union official with the Monessen Southwestern Railroad from where he retired in 1981. Bill was a faithful and proud member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon for 62 years and was very active in his community. He was a charter member; Melvin Jones recipient and five time president of the Belle Vernon Lions Club; a regular attendee with the Monessen Lions Club; member and Paul Harris recipient of the Belle Vernon Rotary; 50-year member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659; member of the Mon Valley Shipmates; and the Tri-County Lodge 252 F&AM. This past September; he was honored by the Mon Valley Chamber of Commerce with the ‘Excellence in Business’ award. Bill also loved his country and proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and the Korean War with an honorable discharge in August 1954. An avid bowler; he could be found weekly at Brunswick Lanes having fun with his friends; enjoying the game that he loved. He loved making us smile with his quick wit and many jokes that he shared. Survivors include a sister; Eleanor Anderson; of Albany; N.Y.; one daughter; Margaret Ann Bradley; of Atlanta; Ga.; one son and daughter-in-law; Bill and Linda Horrell; of Belle Vernon; four grandsons; Heath Bradley and his wife; Kim; of Atlanta; Ga.; Nick Povich; of Uniontown; Michael Horrell; of Belle Vernon; and Aaron Horrell; of Pittsburgh; three great-grandchildren; Ethan; Megan and Matthew Bradley; of Atlanta; Ga.; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife; Anna Louise Jonas Horrell in 1999; and two brothers; Roy and Jim Horrell. Lillian May Galla; 87; of Monessen; died on Sunday; March 2; 2014; in Havencrest Nursing Center. Born in Monessen on July 19; 1926; she was the daughter of the late Charles and Louise Rossa Naccarato. She was a member of the Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband; George Paul Galla; one brother; Fred Naccarato; seven sisters; Rose Naccarato; Josephine Kuhar; Marie Kilpatrick; Jeanne Thompson; Augustine Luketich; Sophie Ward and Margaret Singel. She was the last surviving member of her family. George P. Galla; 88; of Monessen; died on Saturday; Oct. 17; 2009; in his home. Born in Arnold City on July 14; 1921; he was the son of the late Joseph and Anna Kolesar Galla. He retired from Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Co.; Monessen plant. He was a member of Epiphany of Our Lord Roman Catholic Church; and served his country as an Aviation Chief with the U.S. Navy during World War II. Besides his parents; he was preceded in death by five brothers; John; Joseph; Andrew; Paul (who was killed in action in the Korean Conflict); and an infant brother Andrew; and an infant sister; Mary. He is survived by his wife; Lillian M. Naccarato Galla; one son; George A. Galla of Fredrick; Md.; two granddaughters; Lauren and Aubrey Galla; both of Fredrick; Md.; two sisters; Helen Patrick of Monessen and Ann Ziemba of Alexandria; Va.; one brother and two sisters-in-law; Gene and Vera Galla of Grindstone and Maria Galla of Perryopolis; and numerous nieces and nephews.
