Raymond A. Cerniga; 52; of Belle Vernon (Rostraver Township); died Tuesday; Nov. 4; 2008; in Select Specialty Hospital of McKeesport. Born July 28; 1956; in McKeesport; he was the son of Anna (Vlad) Cerniga; of North Huntingdon Township; and the late Joseph Cerniga. A resident of Rostraver Township for the past 20 years; Mr. Cerniga was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church in Belle Vernon. He was employed as a general sales manager at C. Harper Autoplex in Belle Vernon; and he also worked part time at Latorre’s Auto Sales. Mr. Cerniga was a veteran of the Vietnam War; having served with the U.S. Marine Corps. In addition to his mother; he is survived by his wife of 29 years; Monica (DiBattista) Cerniga; a daughter; Deidre Cerniga; of Pittsburgh; a son Kristofer Cerniga; at home; one brother and sister-in- law; Bruce P. and Anna Cerniga; of Florida; two sisters and brothers-in- law; Paula and Dennis Juett and Collette and George Heid; all from the state of California; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his father; he was preceded in death by one brother; Joseph Cerniga. Visitation will be held Thursday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the LEONARD J. PARZYNSKI FUNERAL HOME; family owned and operated; 626 Broad Ave.; Belle Vernon (724-929-6183). A prayer service will be held Friday; Nov. 7; at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home; followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Sebastian R.C. Church with the Rev. Lawrence L. Manchas; pastor; as celebrant. Interment will take place in Belle Vernon Cemetery. Members of St. Sebastian parish will pray the rosary for the departed soul of Raymond Cerniga on Thursday at 3 p.m. in the funeral home. JAY MICHAEL YETSCONISH
Jay Michael Yetsconish of Adams Rd.; Kittanning; went on to Heaven on Monday; March 4; 2013.
Jay Michael was preceded in death by his loving parents; John Jay and Blanche (Stefanik) Yetsconish; his foster sisters; Miri Lee Hartzell; in 2001 and Patty Hartsock earlier this year. He was currently living with Jim and Jan Hartzell; with whom he shared his life and love for nearly 20 years. Jay Michael is also survived by several cousins.
He was a part of the Passavant Family of Services from the time of his mother’s death until now. He had attended Passavant Adult Training Facility in Harmar; PA; and Lifesteps Day Program in West Kittanning. He attended New Life Center Assembly of God Church in Ford City. Jay Michael enjoyed life; travel; music; people watching and most of all his yellow bowling pin which became his constant companion and a source of comfort throughout his days. The family requests that memorial donations be made to Barnabas Ministries through the New Life Center Church.
A Celebration of Jay’s life will be held on Saturday; March 9th at the New Life Center Church; 412 9th Street; Ford City; PA with Pastor Craig Riggle officiating. Norma R. Smith; 86; of Speers; passed on Friday; March 19; 2010; at Monongahela Valley Hospital. Norma was born on Nov. 2; 1923; in North Charleroi; the daughter of the late Joseph J. and Maria Mazade Thiry. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church and the Athene Club; both of Charleroi. She was a homemaker and loving mother to her daughter; Carole Ghenne; of Charleroi; her son; Bruce and his wife; Joann; of Charleroi; and a granddaughter; Jennifer K. Smith; of Chicago. Norma was preceded in death by her parents; and husband; Vernon C. Smith.
