Thomas W. Brookes; Sr.; 86; of Dillonvale; Ohio; passed away on Sunday; Nov. 1; 2009. A son of the late John and Annie Treadwell Brookes; he was born in England; on April 15; 1923. A Christian by faith; he had resided in Ohio for the past 16 years and was formerly of Fairhope (Belle Vernon). He retired from the Allenport Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Company and was a World War II veteran in the U.S. Army. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law; Thomas W.; Jr. and Patricia Brookes; with whom he made his home in Dillonvale; the Rev. Jack and Lori Feick of Mt. Pleasant; and Roy and Kathy Feick of Monongahela; one brother; Morris Brookes of Warren; Ohio; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. John Andrachek Jr.; 91; of Belle Vernon; passed away peacefully at the home of his daughter Marsha; in Richmond; Virginia on Wednesday; Sept. 29; 2010. A son of the late John and Mary A. Chemsak Andrachek; he was born in Monessen on Oct. 23; 1918. John retired in 1981 after 42 years with Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; Monessen Plant. He was a lifelong member of St Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church of Monessen; and was a member of American Legion Post 659; Belle Vernon. He was a veteran of World War II; having served in the Army Air Corps; where he was a crew chief on a C-47 and flew over Normandy. He and his late wife enjoyed traveling and visiting with their children. In later years; John also enjoyed going to the casino to play the penny slot machines. In addition to his parents; he was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years; Helen A. Sobosle Andrachek; in 2008; a daughter; Margaret Susie Dempsey; in 2004; and two sisters; Anna Panzo and Peggy Lyons. Helen A. Andrachek; 84; of Rostraver Township; died Saturday; Dec. 27; 2008; in Mon Valley Hospital. A daughter of the late Margaret and John Sobosle; she was born in Pricedale (Rostraver Township) on April 28; 1934. Helen was a member of St. Mary’s Byzantine Catholic Church in Monessen and the Ladies Guild of the church; the Corning Retirees and the Janet Ray Circle in Roscoe. She lived most of her adult life in Rostraver Township. Helen retired from Corning Glass Works and enjoyed traveling extensively with her husband after retirement.
