Herman W. Lazzari; 81; of Waynesburg; formerly of Belle Vernon; passed away Sunday; March 2; 2014; in the home of his daughter Laurie. A son of the late Armando and Dorothy Treater Lazzari; he was born in Belle Vernon on Sept. 6; 1932. Herman had resided in Waynesburg for the past 35 years; was a member of the Waynesburg Legion; Post 330; and; for over 20 years; had been the owner of Lazzari Instrumentation; retiring in 1997. A private pilot; flying planes was one of his great passions. He was an avid fisherman and served with the U.S. Army in Korea. Louis A. Aebi; 69; of Charleroi; died Thursday; Jan. 30; 2014. Born March 20; 1944; in Charleroi; he was the son of the late Jerry and Madeline Stipes Aebi. Having previously resided in Belle Vernon; Mr. Aebi was a resident of Charleroi for the past year and a member of the Lover Church of Christ. He was a retired truck driver from Roadway Trucking; a veteran of the Vietnam War where he served in the U.S. Army; member of the Belle Vernon American Legion Post 659; Fayette City-Washington Township Lions Club; and Fairhope Rod and Gun Club. Bernice Ester ‘Sis’ Clark-Minnie; 65; of Charleroi; fell asleep in the Lord peacefully at her home on Jan. 30; 2014. Born on Jan. 21; 1949; in the Charleroi-Monessen Hospital; she was the daughter of the late Bernard Clark Sr.; and Ossie Mae Hilton-Clark. In addition to her parents; she was preceded in death by her husband; William Minnie; to whom she was married for 10 years; and one brother; Bernard Clark Jr. She was passionate about work. She was currently employed by Giant Eagle for 16 years and previously employed by Prudential Insurance for 28 years. She enjoyed fellowship with people from all walks of life and had a special love for children; especially the children in her church. She was a member of Mt. Sinai Baptist Church in Charleroi under the leadership of Pastor Diane Hobson. She currently served as vice chairman; previously as treasurer for 10 years; a member of the choir; hospitality committee and a member on the executive board. Kathryn Bell Cunningham; 91; of Monessen; departed this life peacefully on Jan. 23; 2014. She was born Jan. 19; 1923; in Monessen; daughter of the late Nora Bell Biffle and James Lester Bell. Kathryn was preceded in death by husband; James Cunningham; three brothers; Lester; Joseph and Edward Bell; one son; Paul Loines Sr.; and one grandson Brian Loines. Affectionately called “KatKat”; by all who knew and loved her; she was strong-willed and highly spirited. KatKat was the oldest member of Mt. Calvary Baptist Church; where she served as a deaconess; on the Usherboard; Senior Mission Society and was an original member of the Calvary Gospel Chorus. She was also a faithful member in the Women’s Prayer Group at Union Baptist Church. For many years; KatKat was devoted and active with the Mon Valley NAACP and a former member of the Order of Eastern Stars. She was a retired beautician by profession; operated her own shop and worked in her later years; as a nursing assistant. Left to cherish KatKat’s memory are three daughters; Barbara Woodson and husband; Louis Sr.; a devoted son-in-law; Audrey Cunningham; Phyllis Williams and husband; Eddie; and one son; Robert Cunningham; all of Monessen; and one daughter-in-law; Mary Loines of Cleveland; Ohio. Irene Modrak Mendicino; 89; of Belle Vernon; Washington Township; died Tuesday; March 15; 2011; in Monongahela Valley Hospital. Born July 29; 1921; in Pricedale; she was the daughter of the late John and Mary Motchkoski Modrak. A resident of Washington Township for the past 60 years; Mrs. Mendicino was a member of St. Sebastian Roman Catholic Church and a retired storekeeper and owner of Anna and Irene’s Grocery. She was a member of the former Belle Vernon Knights of Columbus Council 3026 Ladies Auxiliary and former Catholic Daughters of the Americas Belle Vernon Court 1522.
