Six grandchildren also survive. A funeral Mass was held this morning at 10 a.m.in St.Jerome Church with the Rev.Lawrence Smith officiating. Burial was in Belle Vernon Cemetery.

She was a member of the Holy Resurrection Orthodox Church of Belle Vernon. She was preceded in death by a daughter;Patsy Ann on Oct.31;1958. He was born July 20;1896;in Jewett;Ohio;son of the late James and Esther Urwin Duggins. He had lived all his life in Belle Vernon and was a U.S.Army veteran of World War I. Until his retirement in 1962;he was a chemical analyst at the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He was a member of American Legion Post 659 of Belle Vernon. Surviving are his widow;Edna King Duggins;one sister;Mrs.Theodore (Ruth) Duggins Hoffman of Sewickley. Services were held at 1 p.m.with the Rev.Howard A.Greenfield II;officiating. Burial was in Belle Vernon Cemetery.

Born in Italy on Oct.8;1890;she was a member of St.Sebastian’s Catholic Church of Belle Vernon and a member of the Anita Garibaldi Lodge of Belle Vernon. Her husband;James died in 1959;and a son;Edward;died in 1975. Surviving are a son;Edward DeRose of South Lyon;Mich.;four daughters;Mrs.Joseph (Stella) Krlin of Pittsburgh;Mrs.Ronald (Geraldine) McKuen and Mrs.Emil (Fanny) Cappellini;both of Ft.Lauderdale;Fla.;and Mrs.Roseanna Jurcevich;with whom she resided;12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He had lived in Monessen for many years and had been employed in the shipping department of the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel; He was an Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are two sons;John J.Jr.of Monongahela and Leonard of Glassport;a brother;Louis of Coraopolis and three grandchildren. Services were held in the Rhome Funeral Home with the Rev. Henry Dinicco officiating. Burial was in Belle Vernon Cemetery.

Pittsburgh police were still
investigating today the
shooting death Thursday night
of a 28-year-old Monessen
man; Gary Destefano of 1197
Leeds Ave.
Police said Destefano’s
body was found Thursday at
11:40 p.m. in a parking lot at
3rd avenue and Market street
in downtown Pittsburgh. He
had been shot twice in the
head with a .22-caliber
weapon.
Police have ruled out robbery as the motive since $272
in cash was found on his body.
Destefano’s 1975-model
Cadillac had been impounded
earlier Thursday when it was
found illegally parked in the
downtown area; police said.
Mr. Destefano was born in
New Eagle; on May 7;1951; the
son of Samuel 0. (Sheek) and
Muriel (Reese) Destefano —
who survive. He was a former
Monessen resident.
A 1969 graduate of Monessen
High School; Mr. Destefano
was a Vietnam veteran. He attended Dade County Community College; Coral Gables;
Fla. He was recently
employed by the Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel Co.; at the Allenport Plant.
Mr. Destefano was a
member of St. Leonard’s
Roman Catholic Church in
Monessen.
In addition to his parents; he
is survived by one brother;
Randy Destefano of Monessen;
one sister; Mrs. Charles (Roxanne) Gee; Monessen; and his
paternal grandmother; Mrs.
Ruth Destefano; Monessen.
The family will receive
friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 p.m. and
from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the
Rhome Funeral Home; Inc.;
1209 Grand Blvd.; Monessen.
A Blessing service will be
held at 9:30 a.m. Monday
followed by a Funeral Mass at
10 a.m. Monday at St.
Leonard’s Roman Catholic
Church in Monessen; with the
Rev. Henry P. DiNicco officiating.
Burial will follow in the Belle Vernon Cemetery.
