Leonard H.Doty of 1540 Leeds Ave.;Monessen;died Sunday;May 12;1985;in his home. He was 63. Mr.Doty was born May 13;1921;in Monessen;a son of Daniel Doty Sr.;who survives;and the late Anna Delzangle Doty;who died in 1980. Mr.Doty retired in 1975 as a foreman in the BOF Plant of the Monessen Works of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation. Mr.Doty was a member of the Most Holy Name of Jesus Roman Catholic Church;Monessen. He was a life member of Monessen Volunteer Fire Department No.1;was a charter member of the Monessen Ambulance Service;and was a member of the American Legion. A U.S.Army veteran of World War II;Mr.Doty had been in a German prison. He was decorated twice with the Purple Heart and had received the World War II Victory Medal and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with three bronze stars. In addition to his mother;he was preceded in death by a son;Duane Leonard Doty;in 1981. Born July 1;1895;in Italy;he was a son of the late Peter and Madeline Salvino Dodaro.Mr.Dodaro was a member of St.Cajetan Roman Catholic Church of Monessen;the Italian Society of Mutual Aid and the Monessen Sons of Italy. A Monessen resident since 1913;he retired in January 1963 from the pipe shop department of the Monessen plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. He was preceded in death by his wife;Rose Dodaro;on Sept.2;1975;a granddaughter;Rene Dodaro;in 1952;a sister;Vincenzina Spadafore in 1973;two brothers;Louis Dodaro in 1976 and John Dodaro in 1980. Surviving are two sons;Perry Dodaro of Monessen and James Dodaro of Elizabeth;a daughter;Mrs.William (Madeline) Myers of Monessen;eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Alfred G.Dolfi;an active merchant in the North Belle Vernon community for many years;died suddenly at Mon Valley Hospital on Sunday;April 21;1985;at 12:30 a.m. Mr.Dolfi of 421 Fayette St.;Belle Vernon;was 72. He was born in Belle Vernon Nov.24;1912;a son of the late Angelo and Amelia Levi Dolfi. Mr.Dolfi was a member of St.Sebastian Roman Catholic Church of Belle Vernon and the Donora Elks. He was a lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area. The Dolfis have operated a family-run business for many years. Mr.Dolfi and his brother-in-law;Dan Makovics;took over the family business started by Angelo Dolfi on Broad Avenue in North Belle Vernon in 1945. The new store featured fresh fruits and vegetables;meat and general food items and continued a policy of customer service which carried into the present. With Mr.Makovics;Mr.Dolfi remained active in running the business until his death. In addition to his parents;Mr.Dolfi was preceded in death by a brother;Ernest;in 1957. Rebecca J.Dupree of 126 Branthoover Ave.;Arnold City;died Saturday;March 16;1985;at 4 p.m. in Mon Valley Hospital;Carroll Twp. She was 65. Mrs.Dupree was born Sept.19;1919;in Flattop;Ala.;a daughter of the late Andrew Wilson and Izora Wilson who survives and resides in Arnold City. She had lived in Arnold City since 1927 coming there from Alabama. She was a Baptist by faith. Mrs.Dupree was a member of Antioch Baptist Church;Belle Vernon;the Nurses Board and Nurses Convention of the YWBA;and served as a Junior Missionary supervisor. She was also a member of the Star of Bethlehem Chapter No 34;Order of the Eastern Star;PHA ;11th OES District. Mrs.Dupree was also a member of the Monongahela Valley Branch of the NAACP which she served as a member of its Ways and Means Committee. Her husband;Milton S.Dupree;died on April 9;1963. One son;Anthony;three daughters;Delores;Ramona and LaVonne;and one brother;Andrew Wilson;are also deceased.
