Mamie Guidotti;of Route 88;Speers;died Monday;March 19;1979;in an early morning fire along with her husband;Pete;at their home. She was born Aug.29;1909. She was originally from West Virginia and had lived in Speers since she married her husband;Pete;twenty years ago. She had served as a volunteer for the Salvation Army in Monessen. Mary J.Griffey;654 McMahon Ave.;Monessen;was prounced dead on arrival at Mon Valley Hospital;Carroll Twp.on Friday;Dec.8;1978. She was 79. Mrs.Griffey was born March 29;1899;the daughter of the late David and Ellen Norris. She was a former member of the Union Baptist Church;and was a Daughter Elk with the Elite Temple 428;both of Monessen. Mrs.Griffey is survived by her husband;Allen Griffey;a son;Louis E.Griffey of Monessen;and several nieces and nephews. John D.Gaul;of Fayette City R.D.1;police chief of Washington Twp.;was dead on arrival Friday;Sept.15;1978;at 8 p.m.in Charleroi Division of Mon Valley Hospital.  He was 46.  Mr.Gaul was born April 12;1932;in Monessen;a son of Lillian Brooks Gaul of Belle Vernon;who survives;and the late Norman Gaul.  He was employed at the Monessen Plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.and was a Protestant by faith.  A veteran of the Korean Conflict who served in the U.S.Army as a sergeant;Mr.Gaul was a member of Fairhope Veterans of Foreign Wars Post.   In addition to his mother;he is survived by his widow;Rochelle Palfi Gaul;and two sons;John Norman Gaul and Ricky Gaule;both of Belle Vernon.  He was preceded in death by his father;Norman Gaul.  Friends will be received in the Howard W.McCrory Funeral home;Fayette City;after 4 p.m.Saturday.  Services will be held in the funeral home Monday at 1:30 p.m.with the Rev.Frank D.Garlathy of the Fayette City United Methodist Church officiating.  Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.  The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

24; 1919 in Mt. Pleasant; a

and Mary Ann Rodgers
Hewitt.
Before moving to Port
Royal Village in August of
1977; she had spent most of her
life in Speers.
Her husband; Thomas C.
Griffith; preceded her in death
on July 17; 1972; as did a
brother; Robert Hewitt; in
1975.
Survivors include four sons;
Arthur Artis of New Eagle;
Barry B. Griffith of Charleroi;
Thomas L. Griffith with the
U.S Army in Germany; and
Douglas S. Griffith; at home;
one brother; Jacob Hewitt of
Belle Vernon; two sisters;
Mrs. Carolyn Crouch of Speers
Hill and Mrs. Louvisa
McKevitt of Shaler Twp.; and
six grandchildren.

Lillian Harvey Gravitte of 112 Second St.;Monessen;died Thursday;March 23;1978;at 10:45 p.m.in City Hospital;Akron;Ohio. She was 41. She was a resident of Monessen her entire life. She was preceded in death by her parents;Elwood G.and Anna Lee Harvey. She is survived by one brother;Gilbert Harvey of Monessen;three sisters;Nellie Ingole and Frances Azeriete;both of Barbarton;Ohio and Gloria Dawkins of Akron;two uncles;Clyde Davis and Alton Davis;both of Monessen;and two aunts;Catherine Madison and Corrine Davis;both of Monessen. The funeral will be held from the Taylor Funeral Home Chapel in Monessen on Monday at 11 a.m.with Elder J.E.Bass Sr.officiatting. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
