Gale W.Johnston;76;of Monessen;died Wednesday;Sept.1;1999;in Mon Valley Hospital. He was born July 1;1923;in North Belle Vernon;a son of the late Michael H.and Galeen Johnston. Mr.Johnston was a U.S.Army veteran of World War II;serving in the battle of the Bulge and the Invasion of Normandy. He worked for 42 years at the Allenport plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel;as an engineer on the railroad. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Monessen;Belle Vernon Lodge 613 F&AM;served as past high priest of the Royal Arch Chapter 290;was past commander of the McKean Commandery No.80;and a member of the Franco-Belgium Beneficial Society of Monessen. Survivors include his wife;Edwina McLaughlin Johnston;a daughter;Patricia Gale Feick of Gastonville;a son;Scott A.Johnston of Alexandria;Va.;two grandsons;William C.Feick Jr.and Jason M.Feick;both of Gastonville;and a brother;Melvin A.Johnston of Gibsonia. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by a sister;Dora Metzner;and two brothers;Thomas G.and Robert M.Johnston. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.at the RHOME FUNERAL HOME INC.;1209 Grand Blvd.;Monessen. Private funeral services will be held Saturday;with the Rev.William Gawlas officiating. Private interment will be held in Belle Vernon Cemetery.

Gertrude Irene Johnson;60;of 642 Knox Ave.;Monessen;died Wednesday;July 28;1999;at 2 a.m.in her residence. Born June 13;1939;in Mt.Pleasant;she was a daughter of the late Fitzure and Eva Wilson Williams. Mrs.Johnson was a home health nurse;having most recently worked at Hallsworth House in North Charleroi. She had been a resident of Monessen for over 25 years;having previously lived in Mt.Pleasant. She was a member of Mt.Clavary Baptist Church of Monessen;where she served as pianist and director of several gospel singing groups. Survivors include her husband;Edward Johnson;three sons;Darnell Williams;Edward Lantz;Jr.;and Kirk Lantz;two daughters;Terri Lynn Lantz Baldwin and Teresa Lantz Brown;all of Mt.Pleasant;her brothers;Robert Williams of Norristown;William Williams of Mt.Pleasant;Richard Williams of Norristown;and Larry Williams of Stockton;Calif.;sisters Edna Melvin of Cardale;Pa.;Ruth Williams of Uniontown;Shirley Rogers of Mt.Pleasant;Carol Williams of Corpus Christi;Texas;Patricia Hobson of Mt.Pleasant and Beverly Williams of Mt.Pleasant;seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by a brother;Charles Williams. She is also survived by nieces;nephews;cousins and friends. Friends will be received at the Mt.Calvary Baptist Church;Reed Avenue;Monessen;Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m.and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held in the church Saturday at 11 a.m.with the Rev.Griffin E.Mason officiating. Doris Gaut Jedrziewski;81;of Belle Vernon;died Monday;Dec.14;1998;in the Blake Hospital;Bradenton;Fla. She was born Sept.9;1917;in Irwin;a daughter of the late William Boyd and Myrtle Vosmus Gaut. She was a graduate of Seton Hill College in Greensburg. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon;where she was an elder;a choir member and particpated in the Martha Circle of Preabyterian Women and Adult Sunday School Class. She was a member of the Mimiriam Club of Belle Vernon and served on the former Christian Education Committee and the Committee of Ministry for the Redstone Presbytery. She was active in Girl Scouts for many years. Survivors include two daughters;Ann Jedrziewski of New York;N.Y.;and Kathy Jedrziewski of Philadelphia;and one grandson;Samuel Anthoy Gorka. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by her husband;Anthony A.Jedrziewski. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the James C.Stump Funeral Home Inc.;580 Circle Dr.;Sweeney Plan/Rostraver Township. Family and friends will gather for funeral services Saturday at 11 a.m. in the First Presbyterian Church of Belle Vernon with the Rev.James C.Ramsey officiating.
