He was born July 7;1910;in Fayette City;a son of the late Ellsworth H.and Alethea Briner Johnson. Mr.Johnson was a member of the Fayette City United Presbyterian Church;where he served as an elder for over 20 years. He was a retired steel worker for the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel co.at the Monessen Plant. Surviving are his wife;Olive Osborne Johnson;two daughters and sons-law;Patty and David Cable of Johnstown and Bonnie and William Jones of Sheffield Lake;Ohio;two granddaughters;Lorrie and Brenda;and one great-granddaughter. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by two brothers;Eugene Johnson and E.H.(Jake) Johnson;and three sisters;Virginia Hough;Donna Stephens and Florence Highfield. Mary Jones;48;of Old York Road;Washington;died unexpectedly at 6:25 a.m. Friday;September 27;1996;in Washington Hospital’s emergency department. She was born March 23;1948;in Charleroi;a daughter of Emil and Mary W.Wenzel Livi;of Uniontown. Mrs.Jones was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. She was a teacher at Trinity High School where she taught for the past two years. Prior to that;she taught at John F.Kennedy Grade School for 15 years. She has also been a counselor at the Youth Development Center;Waynesburg. In 1966;she graduated from Mon Valley Catholic High School. In 1970;she graduated from California State Teachers College;where she was a member of Phi Delta Kappa and received their graduate award. She received her master’s degree from California University of Pennsylvania. She also volunteered for Open Doors for the Handicapped and also for the United Way of Washington County. On July 24;1971;she married Douglas P.Jones;who survives. Also surviving;besides her parents and husband;are four daughters;Mardy Jones of Columbia;S.C.;and Diane;Kara and Meghan Jones;all at home;and one sister;Emile Dawn Morse of Wilkinsburg.
