He was a resident of the Belle Vernon community for the last 30 years and was a veteran of World War II;having served with the U.S.Army. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He retired in January;1978 from the steam plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp.;Monessen. Mr.Kalakewich was Catholic by faith. His first wife;Thelma Hughes Kennedy;died on June 8;1972.
