Paul E.(Putsy) Lewis; 52;director of District 15;United Steelworkers of America;of Jefferson Twp.;Perryopolis R.D.2;was dead on arrival Tuesday;Nov.2;1981 at 5:15 a.m.at Mon Valley Hospital;of an apparent heart seizure. Mr.Lewis was born in Elizabeth on Aug.24;1929;and moved to Charleroi in 1935. He attended Fallowfield Township Schools;starred in football at Charleroi High School and graduated in 1946. He also attended California State College. He served in the Far East during the Korean War with the Fifth Air Force. Survivors include his wife;Rose Olexa Lewis;two daughters;Mrs.Jeffrey (Kathy) Knight of Monongahela and Paula Lewis;at home;his mother;Mrs.Betty Fillingham of Charleroi;his father;Francis Lewis of Cairton;a brother;Francis Lewis of Belle Vernon and a sister;Mrs.Thomas (Shirley) Pullion of Charleroi. A member of St.John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church;Perryopolis;Mr.Lewis was active with the United Way of Mon Valley;having joined its board in 1980 and having served in the last two campaigns. He also had served as chairman of the Municipal Authority of Jefferson Twp.;was a volunteer fireman in that community and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Friends will be receieved in the Howard W. McCrory Funeral Home in Fayette City on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.;Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and until 10 a.m. on Friday when a Blessing service will be held in the funeral home. The Rev.Frank Lesniowski;pastor of St.John the Baptist R.C.Church;Perryopolis;will officiate. Interment will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery. The Howard W.McCrory Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sophie Stack Lachman;of 414 Fayette St.;Belle Vernon;died Tuesday;March 31;1981;at 12:40 a.m.in Montefiore Hospital;Pittsburgh. She was 71. Mrs.Lachman was born April 13;1909;in Charleroi;a daughter of the late Frank and Mary Kijowski Stack. A life-long resident of the Belle Vernon Area;she was a member of St.Sebastian R.C.Church;Belle Vernon;and the Ladies’ Guild of the church;and the Catholic Daughters of America Belle Vernon Court 1522. She was preceded in death by two brothers;John and Michael Stack. Survivors include her husband;Joseph W.Lachman;at home;two sons;Joseph J.Lachman of Fairhope and William A.Lachman of Bulger;Pa.;a daughter;Mr. Leonard (Loretta) Cardiff;of Irwin;Pa.;three brothers;Stanley Stack and William Stack;both of Donora;and Anthony Stack of Modesto;Calif.;a sister;Mrs.John (Stella) Janney;of Donora;and nine grandchildren. A Prayer Service will be held Thursday at 9:30 a.m.in the funeral home;followed by a 10 a.m.Mass of Christian Burial at St.Sebastian R C.Church;Belle Vernon. Burial will be in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
