Fred M.Matthews of 223 Dull St.;Belle Vernon (Fairhope);died Friday;Oct.8;1982;at 8:55 a.m.in Mon Valley Hospital. He was 82. Mr.Matthews was born Sept.13;1900;in Cecil;a son of the late Victor and Marie Vandecassi Matthews. A resident of the Belle Vernon area for the past 36 years;Mr.Matthews was Catholic by faith. He retired in 1962 as a roller at the blooming mill of the Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corporation’s Monessen Plant. Mr.Matthews was a member of the Charleroi Homing Pigeon Club. Survivors include his widow;Eva Ruby Matthews;three sons;Fred H.of Martinsburg;W.Va.;Robert F.of Belle Vernon and Bernard P.of Monroeville;two daughters;Mrs.George (Claudia) Rossi of Long Branch and Mrs.Gerald (Donna) Jodon of Monongahela;one brother;Victor Matthews;13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Friends will be received in the Leonard J.Parzynski Funeral Home;626 Broad Ave.;Belle Vernon;on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.;where services will be held on Sunday;Oct.10;at 1 p.m.with Allen Hamer;a member of Marion Presbyterian Church in Fairhope;officiating. Born in Arnold City;March 6;1912;Mrs.Marinos was a lifelong resident of the Belle Vernon area. She was a member of the Lynnwood Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her husband;Mike Emanuel Marinos on Nov.8;1964. She is survived by her husband;Robert McLaughlin of Belle Vernon;a son Walter Beeman of Charleroi;six grandchildren;one great-grandchild;one sister;Mrs.Gus (Anna Mae) Carlson of Perryopolis;one brother;Thomas Vance of Carroll Twp.;and several nieces and nephews.
