Rene A.Mathieu of 621 Reed Ave.;Monessen;died Sunday;June 10;1990;in Washington Hospital following an extended illness. He was 40. Mr.Mathieu was born March 15;1950;in North Charleroi;a son of the late Maurice and Angeline Canastrale Mathieu. He was employed by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation;working as an equipment operator III out of the Greensburg office. He was a member of St.Cajetan Roman Catholic Church;Monessen. Survivors include his wife;Leona Turek Mathieu;four children;Heather;Rene Jr.;Alena and Alphonse;two brothers;Maurice of York Haven and Donald of CHarleroi;many nieces;nephews;great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Rhome Funeral Home Inc.;1209 Grand Blvd.;Monessen;where a prayer service will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m.;followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. in St.Cajetan Church;Monessen;with Monsignor P.Lino Ramellini as celebrant. MR.MORGAN WAS A MEMBER OF MARION PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH OF BELLE VERNON AND THE BELLE VERNON F&AM LODGE 643. HE HAD SERVED ON THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS OF THE BELLE VERNON CEMETERY ASSOCIATION FROM 1970 TO 1987. A LIFELONG RESIDENT OF BELLE VERNON;HE HAD RETIRED IN 1968 FROM THE ALLENPORT PLANT OF WHEELING-PITTSBURGH STEEL;WHERE HE HAD BEEN EMPLOYED IN THE TUBE DEPARTMENT. MR.MORGAN HAD BEEN MARRIED FOR 62 YEARS TO ANNA PALFREY MORGAN;WHO SURVIVES. Mary Ruth Scholl Middleton;77 of Grindstone R.D.1;formerly of Rostraver Township;died in the Harmon House;Mt.Pleasant;Saturday;March 24;1990 at 4:35 p.m. She was born in Rostraver Township Jan.9;1913;a daughter of the late David S.and Sarah E.Pore Scholl. Mrs.Middleton was a member of the First Baptist Church of Brownsville and a former member of both the Olive Branch Baptist Church of Rostraver Township and the Emanuel Baptist Church of Donora. She served as organist at all of the churches. She was a former member of the Rostraver Grange and held memberships in the Morning Star Grange and the Cross Keys Center in Brownsville. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by three brothers;Roy Scholl;William C.Scholl and Robert B.Scholl;a sister;Margaret H.Rankin;and her first husband;Clarence E;Stump;who died in 1954. She was born July 23;1901;in Jefferson Township;a daughter of the late James and Sarah Wright Hutchison. Mrs.Moats was a member of the Little Redstone United Presbyterian Church;Fayette City R.D. She was a also a member of the ladies auxiliary of the Brightwell-Daughtery American Legion Post 484 of Fayette City and a Gold Star Mother. She was a homemaker. In addition to her parents;she was preceded in death by her husband;Sevester (Wes) Moats in September 1985;and one son;Melvin in the Korean War in 1950. Frederick A. Freddie Miller;89;of Charleroi;died Tuesday;Feb.6;1990;in Monongahela Valley Hospital Inc.;Carroll Township. Born June 12;1900;in Pittsburgh;he was the son of the late Frederick and Ethel V.Addison Miller. Mr.Miller was a retired director of safety and police at the Allenport plant of Wheeling-Pittsburgh Steel Corp. A U.S.Navy veteran;he served in both World War I and Word War II. He was a charter member of VFW Post 167;Charleroi;a member of American Legion Post 484;Fayette City;member and past president of World War I Barracks 0350;member of B.P.O.E. Lodge 494 and The Last 2 Men’s Club;both of Charleroi;and a former member and past president of the Charleroi Lions Club. In addition to his parents;he was preceded in death by two sons;Charles G.and Edward L.Miller. Surviving are one daughter;Mrs.Ronald (Ruth Ann) Oates of Charleroi;one brother;Cornelius Acton of Bradford;six grandchildren;eight great-grandchildren;one nephew;Patrick Acton of Bradford;one niece;Ethel V.Miller of Braden;and a friend;Jean T.Simonin of Charleroi.
